not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.

 

Job Summary:  The Technical Officer will coordinate and monitor the implementation of HIV testing, diagnosis and scale up PMTCT in the districts. They will twin with the ADHO/MCH officer to support the health systems strengthening for HTS/PMTCT/EID and DSDM for HTS to improve yield and accelerate reaching the first 95 to achieve virtual elimination of mother to child transmission.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement Annual and quarterly cluster work plans for HTS, PMTCT and EID and integrate gender standards into district plans and activities to address gender inequalities that hinder access to HIV prevention, care and treatment services.
  • Train, coach and mentor DHT, district and CBO staff in efficient Differentiated models of HTS, eMTCT & EID, Gender and coordinate scale up plans in line with existing national policy guidelines.
  • Monitor distribution and utilization of associated HIV commodities.
  • Implementation of Quality improvement and innovative differentiated models of HTS, eMTCT/EID and Gender integration.
  • Monitor PMTCT/HCT/EID performance against set targets and submit periodic reports to key stakeholders in line with program and national reporting requirements.
  • Strengthen collaborative partnerships with Health facilities, Governments, Community Based Organizations and other corporate entities for a coordinated HIV response.
  • Integration of human rights standards or principles and gender mainstreaming perspectives in HIV programs at district level.
  • Advocate and actively engage men and boys as key stakeholders and agents in promoting male involvement in healthcare, gender equality and ending gender-based violence against women and girls
  • Build the capacity of health workers and key community stakeholders in both Quality Improvement initiatives for and delivery of quality HTS, PMTCT/EID and targeted prevention services to KP/PP service provision through training of service providers, and quarterly on site mentorships to all supported health facilities and community structures with in supported districts.
  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of innovative strategies that increase HTS yield, community engagement including KP/PP and male involvement in HIV testing and PMTCT services.
  • Implement Health facility-community referral and linkage activities in HTS, PMTCT, EID & prevention for KP/PP.
  • Support Health Facilities in integration of Family planning in HIV and PMTCT services provided at both the health facilities and community intervention points in line with project objectives & National guidelines.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Degree in Nursing (Reproductive health) or related field of medicine from a recognized institution and must be registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Trainer of Trainers in eMTCT and EID. Must have solid practical skills in implementation of HTS, eMTCT, EID, HIV Care and ART and Other prevention programs for key and priority populations.
  • At least three years of related work experience in technical assistance to districts and Health system strengthening (HSS).
  • Good communication skills, ability to work in a team.
  • Must be dynamic, Persuasive and convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate high initiative.
  • You must have at least a credit 6 in MATHEMATICS and ENGLISH at Ordinary Level (UCE). Only
