Job Summary: The Project Officer Early Childhood Development (ECD) will be part of the team that will lead in the   implementation of project activities in Palorinya refugee settlement, Gulu and Kitgum districts.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in a timely and efficient manner in the targeted communities
  • Directly implement project supported interventions to achieve the set objectives and targets.
  • Closely work with and support project stakeholders including parents, ECD Caregivers, and Community leaders to support implementation of project activities.
  • Support acquisition, distribution, and safety of play materials to all targeted children and households.
  • Support in organizing events and trainings for parents, Care givers, and Community leaders.
  • Manage and account for project funds in compliance with ChildFund’s standards.
  • Mobilize and sensitize parents and community members to participate in project interventions at homes, at community level, and at early learning centers.
  • Coordinate with all the key partners in the districts and enhance a strong network of ECD actors
  • Support the documentation and sharing of knowledge and learning experiences generated from the project interventions with project stakeholders.
  • Prepare activity, monthly and quarterly reports to the Project Manager.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education/Early Childhood Care and Development, Child Development and Children’s Ministry, and Social Sciences, Project Management, and any other relevant course.
  • At least two years of professional experience implementing and/or managing community led programs for children 0-8 years.
  • Excellent writing, facilitation skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office programs including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Power Point.
  • Strong skills in teamwork and networking.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills in multi-cultural contexts
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle
  • Familiarity with project locations and willingness to work in remote areas is highly preferred.
