Masaka Diocesan Medical Services Ltd is a registered company limited by guarantee and not having share capital. The Company has undertaken to be the Distributer of JMS in the Greater Masaka region, involved in storage and sale of products, including pharmaceuticals, medical and surgical sundries, equipment and instrument as well as laboratory supplies. Therefore MDMSL distributes pharmaceutical supplies exclusively from JMS assured of their quality, safety and availability at all times to her consumers. MDMSL supplies these products to Government health facilities, PNFPs, Private for Profit health facilities, NGOs and well as pharmacies and drug shops within Greater Masaka.

 

Job Summary:  The OVC program Manager will provide administrative and technical oversight, operational coordination and management including; planning, implementation, capacity enhancement, monitoring/evaluation and reporting on delivery of high quality OVC care and support services in the 7 districts supported by MDMS.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the lead for the project implementation, overseeing all programming and coordination of programming, and ensure strong communication and coordination with and between all project members as a means to effectively achieve program objectives
  • Provide regular support supervision, coaching and mentoring to the program team across the districts under the Activity.
  • Lead the planning of project activities and set high quality performance targets ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and donor guidelines.
  • Use appropriate project management tools to plan, review and track progress on project implementation as well as on the utilization of project resources
  • Work with the Team Leader to identify and respond to donors needs and other requirements from WEI-ICYD
  • Preparing and submitting periodic reports as per the organizational, government and donor requirements with approval from the Team Leader.
  • Leads the development and execution of project work plans and budgets for the implementation of quality OVC activities.
  • Coordinate with other NGO or similar organization to ensure complementarity of the project
  • Conduct regular project meetings to ensure issues are raised and addressed and encourage reflection on project progress and learning for improvement.
  • Promoting quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes while maintaining high standards of stewardship and accountability for all activity resources
  • Overseeing achievement of OVC performance targets in line with technical standards, best practices and donor guidelines.
  • Continuously documenting new developments in OVC programming and align them to proposed activities.
  • Strengthening reporting on OVC activities through National OVC Management Information System in the region.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in public health, Social work, or other social science or field of study related to project scope of work required. A bachelor’s degree with an additional post graduate diploma in a relevant field, from a recognized institution can also be considered as an equivalent requirement.
  • At least five years of experience working on a large project and experience with PEPFAR funded programs/projects is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability in programming in general, designing, coordinating, and implementing OVC/Youth HIV programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain partnerships with government stakeholders.
  • Ability to represent the organization at different levels.
  • Hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
