RHSP strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community-based research, curative services, and prevention strategies in the districts of South-central Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  The Community DREAMS/OVC Technical Assistant will support the technical implementation and Coordination Function of the DREAMS & OVC program in the district as guided by PEPFAR. The OVC-DREAMS District Assistant will work with the OVC-DREAMS cluster coordinator and district data assistant to ensure that overall implementation of the DREAMS & OVC program in the district is efficiently executed.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Monitor DREAMS & OVC activity implementation in the district.
  • Provide technical guidance to the CBOs, DREAMS & OVC social workers, Sub-county Coordinators and other district and sub-district DREAMS & OVC stakeholders such as DOVVCC & SOVVCs.
  • Prepare district DREAMS & OVC budgets, work-plans, and accountabilities.
  • Monitor the implementation of district DREAMS & OVC work-plans across the different thematic areas.
  • Work with district administrative structures to ensure smooth running of DREAMS & OVC activities in the district.
  • Monitor DREAMS & OVC performance and reporting in UDOTS, HIBRID and DHIS2 for their respective district.
  • Monitors daily reporting of district DREAMS & OVC activities.
  • Plan for and oversee different operational field activities in the district.
  • Prepare weekly reports for the district.
  • Ensure timely, clean, and complete district DREAMS & OVC reporting to DHIS2, HIBRID, UDOTS and OVCMIS
  • Oversee screening and enrolment of AGYW and vulnerable children into the DREAMS/OVC program based on the risk and vulnerability criteria as guided by PEPFAR.
  • Support functionality of OVC coordination structures at district and sub-district levels [DOVVCC & SOVVCs].
  • Lead capacity building initiatives among DREAMS/OVC service providers at various levels
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing AGYW/OVC access to education and life skills.
  • Build systems to ensure effective referral and linkages for AGYW/OVCs to community support structures using PSWs.
  • Promote access and utilization of child protection services among AGYW, vulnerable children, youths and their household members.
  • Ensure access to quality legal and protective services among victims of child abuse and survivors of Gender Based Violence
  • Ensure regular follow up and documentation of Viral load suppression status of all OVC and AGYW on ART.
  • Supervise and work closely with health facilities, PSWs & CSO staff to link HIV positive children and AGYW to community social services.
  • Support OVC case management documentation and beneficiary assessments to track progress towards graduation.
  • Document and report family and child success stories based on program intervention.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, or Related humanities field
  • Training in child protection and GBV prevention and response will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with DREAMS & OVC programming is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with PEPFAR and district reporting systems like DHIS2, OVCMIS, and HIBRID is an advantage
  • Experience working with the Uganda DREAMS & OVC Tracking System (UDOTS) is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work in a rural and multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle and possession of a valid riding permit
