About US:

The Uganda Consortium on Corporate Accountability (UCCA) was founded by
four human rights organisations in August 2015 and started operations in
January 2016. It is a Civil Society Consortium on corporate accountability
aimed at enhancing accountability by corporations, States, international
finance institutions and development partners for violations or abuses of
Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCRs). At present, the UCCA has a membership
of 21 human rights organizations specializing in different areas of rights
protection. Its four founding members include the Initiative for Social and
Economic Rights (ISER), the Public Interest Law Clinic at Makerere University
Law School (PILAC), Legal Brains Trust (LBT) and the Center for Health Human
Rights and Development (CEHURD). Other UCCA members are Twerwanaho Listeners
Club (TLC), Karamoja Development Forum (KDF), the Southern and Eastern Africa
Trade Information and Negotiation Institute (SEATINI), the Centre for Economic
Social and Cultural Rights in Africa (CESCRA), Buliisa Initiative for Rural
Development Organsation (BIRUDO), Navigators for Development Association
(NAVODA), Ecological Christian Organisation (ECO),World Voices Uganda (WVU),
Rural Initiative for Community Empowerment West Nile (RICE WN), Teso Karamoja
Women Initiative for Peace (TEKWIP), Action Aid International Uganda (AAU),
International Accountability Project (IAP) and Bank Information Centre (BIC).
The Consortium Secretariat is hosted by the Initiative for Social and Economic
Rights (ISER). The Consortium membership is open to all civil society
organization working around the subject of business and human rights and
corporate accountability in Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  UCCA
is therefore looking to recruit a project coordinator who is able to
effectively carry out the functions below and who is notably committed to
promoting social justice and respect for human rights.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Coordinate
activities of UCCA and ensure objectives are met under the project;

·       
Oversee
project implementation, including budget oversight;

·       
Maintain
close contact with members of the consortium and organize regular

·       
meetings/briefings
to update members on progress in the project;

·       
Develop
and maintain good contact with national, regional and international

·       
stakeholders/partners
to enhance the consortium;

·       
Maintain
a database of information related to business and human rights and update it

·       
regularly;

·       
Prepare
donor reports in a timely fashion;

·       
Represent
UCCA at public meetings or functions, when delegated by members;

·       
Assist
in fundraising, at the request of UCCA members;

·       
Perform
any other tasks as UCCA members would request of the Coordinator

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a university degree in a relevant field is required
(specialization in law is an added advantage);

·       
A
Post-graduate degree in a relevant field is added advantage

·       
Seven to
ten years of relevant work experience, preferably with the civil society sector
or public institution working on human rights;

·       
Experience
managing donor-funded projects, including budget oversight and handling

·       
Good
drafting skills, experience with report writing is necessary;

·       
Interest
in, or exposure to the field of business and human rights; and,

·       
Other
qualities of the coordinator should include: good team spirit, interpersonal
skills,

·       
dynamic,
self-motivated, respects deadlines, ability to multi-task and willingness to
learn.
