Job Summary:  Pangea Educational Development (PANGEA) is
looking to hire a Story Curator who will work with our publishing arm Pangea
Publishing to produce children’s books for the refugee context. Pangea
Publishing works to promote literacy and cultural preservation in Uganda and
share it beyond our borders. The Story Curator will work with both our
StoryCorps Members to collect and curate traditional folklore stories from
around Uganda as well as in the development of original texts. The position is
based in Kampala but may require travel to Story Corp Members locations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Manage
the collection of stories from StoryCorps members

·       
Verify
the authenticity, dictate and accurately translate stories collected

·       
Edit
translations into children’s stories written in both vernacular and English
copies

·       
Draft,
edit, and finalize original stories within Content Production Plan

·       
Secondary
Responsibilities:

·       
Coordinate
with pre-approved illustrators to obtain a finished product

·       
Assist
the Project Manager in identifying and interviewing Storycorps from refugee
communities where stories are being collected

·       
Ensure
books/activities are aligned with curriculum standards in working markets

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
Holds
refugee legal status (Required)

·       
Bachelor’s
Degree in the following fields: Literature, Education or related area
(Preferred)

·       
Leadership
experience in a management role (Preferred)

·       
Superior
oral and written communication skills in English and local language (Required)

·       
Computer
fluency and understanding of Microsoft and Google Suite (Required)
