Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organization
dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome
poverty and injustice. We currently work in over 82 districts in Uganda
implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation &
hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & community resilience, education and child
protection. World Vision (WV) is committed to the protection of children and

Job Summary: The resilience and livelihood specialist will support
the Resilience & Livelihoods Technical Lead to provide overall strategic
leadership in the Resilience & Livelihoods sector, guiding relevant
programming in refugee response contexts in Uganda. The jobholder will contribute to World Vision’s role as a thought
leader in the resilience and livelihoods sector; and support continuous
improvement in resilience & livelihoods programming through their technical
expertise, facilitation of learning and innovation

Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Resilience and livelihoods in emergencies programming

·       Ongoing enhancement of World Vision’s resilience &
livelihoods programming in refugee-hosting districts at strategy, programme and
project design levels for greater impact on child well-being. This shall
include:

·       Support ongoing design processes related to refugee
resilience and livelihood programmes and projects, including strategy alignment
and review processes.

·       Monitor programme and project quality at outcome and
impact levels, facilitate evidence-based organizational learning processes and
promote innovation for continuous improvement in programming impact.

·       Support relevant reporting functions, particularly at
outcome and impact level.

·       Support effective implementation of resilience &
livelihoods programmes and projects through:

·       Technical guidance and support to programme and
project implementation.

·       Technical capacity building of project staff, partner
staff and other key stakeholders, as required.

·       Networking and Collaboration

·       Support engagement with key stakeholders for
influence, learning and resource development:

·       Represent WVU in key inter-agency fora, especially at
settlement-level.

·       Engage and build relationships with key partners and
government counterparts

·       Engage with donor agencies and other stakeholders,
from time to time, as required.

·       Contribute to the development and implementation of
the Grant Acquisition Business Plan through technical input to grant proposals.

Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:

·       The ideal applicant must hold a Degree in development
studies, agriculture, economics or other relevant field is a requirement
(post-graduate degree is an advantage).

·       Direct programming experience in resilience &
livelihoods programming in refugee contexts.

·       Strong knowledge in at least three of the following
thematic areas is required: financial inclusion/micro-finance, climate smart
agriculture, value chain development, small enterprise development, emergency
livelihoods programming, cash-based programming.

·       At least three years’ experience in field-based
programme management roles in resilience & livelihoods sector

·       Experience with relevant technical models such as
Village Savings & Loans, Local Value Chain Development and Ultra-Poor
Graduation Model.

·       Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.

·       Track record of success in grant fundraising,
including donor relations and proposal writing.

·       Proactive personality, self-driven and strongly
motivated.

·       Capacity/potential in leadership, relationship
management/networking, and coordination.

·       Spiritual maturity, interfaith knowledge and a
biblical worldview – ability to articulate and model our Christian identity and
mission in an inclusive way.

·       Good interpersonal skills, strong communication
skills, both verbal and written.

·       Proven conceptual & analytical skills, ability to
take an evidence-based approach to programme design.

·       Proven facilitation skills.

·       Team player.

·       Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work.
