About US:

The Agricultural
Business Initiative (aBi) Trust is supporting agribusiness development in the
private sector to achieve the objective of the Government of Uganda’s
Competitiveness and Investment Climate Strategy (CICS). The Trust is a
multi-donor entity jointly founded by the Governments of Denmark and Uganda.
The mandate of aBi Trust is to support the private sector actors to increase
their contribution to the agricultural sector by increasing land and labour
productivity, and market competitiveness thereby contributing to poverty
reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation.

Job Summary:  The Legal & Compliance Manager will provide
legal and compliance advisory services to enable effective management of legal
and contractual risks. The role ensures that aBi is effectively represented in
all legal suits and matters and that the aBi boards and management comply with
the laws and regulations of Uganda, the organization’s policies and procedures
are being followed, and that behaviour in the organization meets the values of
the organisation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·        
The
applicant must hold a Degree in law or business law with 5-7 years’ experience
in managerial position or a Masters in law or business law with at least 4
years’ experience in managerial position

·        
Diploma
in Legal Practice (LDC) requirement

·        
Knowledge
of Uganda regulatory and statutory environment

·        
Good
knowledge and experience in operational risk management, reporting and
compliance

·        
Experience
in drafting and effecting various contracts especially (but not limited to)
purchase, employment, consultancies, Grants

·        
Experience
in working in private and non-governmental organizations

·        
Proficiency
in Microsoft programs and report writing
