Job Summary:  The Database Officer will ensure
efficient  and  effective  data 
management  system.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Monitor  performance 
and  control  access 
permissions  and  privileges.

  • Configure  and  maintain 
    database  management  system.
  • Review  database  service 
    accounts  and  services,  new 
    database  objects.
  • Perform  database  backup 
    and  trouble  shoot 
    database  logging  issues.

Implement  data 
security,  storage,  archiving 
and  backup  recovery.

  • Monitor  database,  file 
    system  and  space 
    usage.
  • Understand  data  encryption  methods 
    and  coordinate  encryption  in 
    compliance  with  the 
    institution  and  data 
    exchange  partners.
  • Conduct  backup  of 
    user  and  system 
    databases  and  review 
    database  user  logs.
  • Perform  data  recovery 
    in  the  event 
    of  disk  crashes.

Participate in  writing, 
developing  or  modifying 
databases.

  • Participate  in  database 
    systems  and  ancillary  systems 
    procurement.
  • Design  business  systems/databases,  considering  “back 
    end”  data  organization,  “front 
    end”  accessibility  and 
    user  needs.
  • Analyse  service  teams’ 
    business  needs  and 
    identify  opportunities  to 
    improve  and  develop 
    corporate  systems/databases.        

Administer,  test 
and  implement  new  or  modified 
systems/databases.

  • Perform  database  installations  and 
    follow  set  database 
    initialization  as  per 
    documented  standards.
  • Monitor  database  growth, 
    keep  up  to 
    date,  analyze,  test, 
    document  and  implement  patches 
    and  upgrades.
  • Perform access  matrix  standardization  and 
    database  object  and 
    parameter  tuning.       

Monitor  performance 
and  control  access 
permissions  and  privileges.

  • Perform  log  review 
    and  archival  tasks, 
    database  fragmentation  analysis 
    and  database  objects 
    cataloging  and  load/performance  analysis 
    on  new  objects.

Document  and 
monitor  operational,  security 
and  maintenance  procedures.

  • Document  database  object 
    and  parameter  changes..
  • Maintain  database  statistics.

Support the
data  collection  process.

  • Ensure  proper  data 
    collection,  cleansing,  transfer 
    and  loading  of 
    company  data  into 
    Data  Alliance  Data 
    Share  system.
  • Extract  data  sets 
    and  build  standardized  summary 
    feedback  from  Data 
    Alliance  Data  Share 
    system  according  to 
    research  criteria.

  • Robust  database  and 
    data  collection  system 
    in  place.
  • Optimum  database  and 
    system  space  usage.
  • Secure  and  well 
    controlled  data  access 
    to  authorised  persons.
  • Up  to  date 
    periodic  reports  on 
    operational,  security  and 
    procedures.
  • Efficient  and  effective  data 
    security,  storage  and 
    archiving.
  • Backup  recovery  systems 
    that  function  well 
    at  all  times.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The ideal candidate for the Pride Database Officer job placement
    should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Information
    Systems/Technology, Computer 
    Science,  or  any 
    other  related  field.
  • At least two years of experience 
    in  a  similar 
    position,  preferably  a 
    banking  industry..
  • Cognitive  ability.
  • Innovative  and  Analytical.
  • Excellent communication skills.
