Job Summary:  The Project Coordinator Energy Sector will
work closely with and support the responsible Project Managers for Energy in
project management to ensure that project objectives are met on time.  The incumbent will support the Kfw Office
Kampala and represent Kfw whenever necessary in the energy sector in Uganda and
related sectors. The jobholder will liaise with other actors of the Ugandan
Energy Sector and German Development Cooperation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively contribute to identification and preparation of new
    projects as well as potential future approaches in the energy sector
    through analysis of the political and economic environment.
  • Represent Kfw at sector / related sector events including meetings.
    committees and working groups, prepare related documentation at such
    events and report on the outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of ToRs and follow up/management of
    contracts by monitoring compliance with contractual provisions,
    disbursement of funds, procurement and reporting, as well as summarize and
    report on relevant activities of other donors in the sector.
  • Introduce the portfolio and related procedures and instruments of
    KfW to the relevant bodies of government authorities, Program Executing
    Agencies and Consultants, and other organisations involved in the
    project), and follow up on their implementation. monitoring and reporting.
  • Ensure proper documentation of the portfolio according to KfW
    regulations by maintaining and updating the related electronic project
    files in KfW’s internal systems.
  • Follow up on project progress and portfolio-related correspondence
    and communications. Identify bottlenecks in the implementation and provide
    feedback to the relevant stakeholders to ensure timely project
    implementation.
  • Prepare, support and document missions from the German Government
    and KfW headquarter and Program Consultants as well as follow-up on
    results of missions.
  • Interact and coordinate regularly and actively with the relevant
    counterparts in Uganda namely UETCL, REA, UEDCL. UEGCL, and Ministry, the
    German Embassy and German Technical Cooperation GlZ in Kampala and other
    development partners.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics,
    Engineering, Social Sciences, preferably with a focus in energy or other
    infrastructure from a recognized University.
  • Five years of related working experience in either an international
    development agency, preferably a multilateral or bilateral donors’
    organisation, consulting firm, or government institution responsible for
    energy, infrastructure or financing OR Project Management experience
    preferably in energy infrastructure projects with a utility or other
    relevant institutions in Uganda.
  • Knowledge on the development of the energy sector in Uganda, with a
    particular focus on infrastructure financing and planning, as well as
    implementation and operation.
  • Excellent analytical capacity, oral and written communication skills
    in English.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and coordination skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with different
    clients and partners, from the public and public sector, as well as
    demonstrate intercultural competence.
  • Proficient in business software applications, including MS—Word.
    Excel, and PowerPoint. ”
  • Open and collaborative attitude, service orientation and the ability
    to work in a team, es well as disclose a confident and professional
    appearance.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language.
  • Knowledge of German is an added advantage.
