Job Summary:  The Program Manager – Resilience to Climate
Change will mainly manage the development, consolidation and implementation of
Programmes on communities resilience to climate change in accordance with the
5th Strategy Paper and overall ActionAid Uganda aspirations, policies and
goals. This role will strengthen AAU in Programme development for the thematic
area, build staff and partner capacity along the thematic area, mobilise
resource and grow the program, create synergies with other thematic areas and
ensure rootedness and connectedness of the theme issues from local, national,
to regional and international. The role is expected to identify issues within
the thematic area that need policy influencing and engagement.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the ActionAid Program Manager – Resilience To
    Climate Change job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Environment, Agriculture, Humanities or any other related field
  • A relevant Postgraduate qualification and training in human
    rights-based approaches, law, human rights, gender, democracy and
    governance is an added advantage.
  • At least six years of similar work experience three of which  should have been at managerial level
    in  a reputable organisation.
  • Experience in developing and implementing knowledge and strategies
    for functions and effective climate change adaptation measures
  • Significant experience in research and learning modalities on small
    farmer groups and formations and their methodologies for advancing climate
    justice
  • Experience in policy influencing on land rights matters
  • Feminist analysis and programming 
    skills
  • Familiarity with gender and women rights analysis and
    programming 
  • Extensive knowledge in proposal development
  • Programme development and design skills
  • Networking and coalition/movement building
  • Critical writing and analysis skills
  • Research and data management techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Policy analysis, power analysis, advocacy and campaigning skills
  • Advocacy and campaigning skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • People management and transformative feminist leadership skills
  • Ability to manage partnerships through technical guidance and
    capacity building
  • Ability to establish critical working relationships
  • Ability to promote and safeguard AAU policies
  • Ability to conduct power analysis
