Salary Range (Gross):  UGX 1,020,000 – 1,280,000 per month (depending on the experience
and skill of a candidate)
About US:
Association for Aid
and Relief (AAR Japan) was founded in 1979 by Yukika SOHMA, our first
chairperson, with a mission to help refugees from Indochina, and as a civil
organization without any political, religious, or ideological affiliations. It
has since then grown into an international organization approved and registered
by the United Nations. AAR Japan has five main pillars of activities; 1)
emergency assistance, 2) assistance to persons with disabilities, 3) landmine
and unexploded ordnance (UXO) action, 4) action against infectious diseases and
5) public awareness raising about global issues in Japan. Since the beginning,
AAR Japan has operated in over 60 countries. Currently we are active in 15
countries and areas, including 4 African countries namely Kenya, Zambia, Sudan
and Uganda.
Job Summary:  The Driver is in charge for providing service
for the International Staff and Local Staff members of AAR Uganda Office on
transport service, in charge as messenger and delivery of administration and
activities of the project in area of Yumbe District, Arua District, and Kampala
city unless mutually agreed by both party.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Drive the office vehicle in safe manner with caution, abiding the
    traffic laws of Uganda.
  • Ensure all passengers fasten their seat belts,
  • Secure the vehicle at all time, locking doors/windows,
  • Maintain the vehicle daily in functioning condition, concerning
    fuel, water, oil and other fluids, tire pressure and keep cleaning inside
    and outside of the vehicle,
  • Report to the Employer on vehicle defects or any other abnormal
    conditions immediately if any,
  • Report any accident or driving incident, even minor, to the
    supervisor immediately and complete necessary reports if any,
  • Maintain the tool box and the first aid kit in functional order, and
    report the Employer if missing or breaking of any item,
  • Record a daily vehicle logbook and check-up record of the vehicle
    and submit to the Employer,
  • Checks daily vehicle schedule for the office (mission, transport
    needs), prepares necessary plans and report on changes.
  • Preserve the confidentiality of all matters related to AAR Japan’s
    operations,
  • Assist with loading and unloading items from vehicles,
  • Perform other duties instructed by supervisors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must be a Ugandan citizen, residing in Uganda and able
    to base in Yumbe
  • Hold valid driver’s license and other required by government of
    Uganda as a driver
  • At least five years of experience as a driver
  • Fluency in speaking and writing English
  • Strong motivation to be part of an aid organization
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment
  • Respect of punctuality
  • Maintenance of confidentiality at all times
  • Solid reporting skills
  • Training in Mechanics will be an added advantage
  • Working experience in NGOs or International Organization is asset
