Job Summary:
The Accounts Assistant will mainly plan implement, control & optimize IAU
financial resources in line with finance policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction
- To provide financial support services to the project through
performance of professional accounting. - Assist the Accountant in running of day to day accounting activities
in the section.
Stakeholder
Management
Management
- Manage relationships with NSSF, Banks, suppliers etc.
- Prepare & provide audit information to facilitate performance of
statutory audits on a timely basis.
Process Management
- Manage Office imprest and petty cash transactions.
- Review payment requisitions against supporting documents (supplier
invoices, purchase order, goods received notes etc.) - Ensure correctness of approvals and computations.
- Preparation of payment vouchers and coding expenditure as
appropriate before payments. - Payment of monthly caseload allowances and updating the records
- Ensure that advances and imprest are fully accounted for with
supporting documents. - Maintenance of the staff advance ledger.
- Ensure that staff salaries are remitted to the respective banks in
time. - Prepare periodic financial reports as per the departmental
guidelines.
Assets Management
- Ensure all financial assets are tagged and capitalised and updated
in the asset register - Monthly review register and report on assets ready for disposal.
Support to staff
& other Managers: Provide
technical support to staff in line with finance policies and procedures to
ensure adherence.

Risk Management
- Continuously assess risks inherent to the Finance and Accounting
section - Implement mitigation measures to curb the risk inherent in the
accounting process. - Review the effectiveness of the mitigation measures on a continuous
basis - Compliance
- Assist the Accountant to ensure that donor compliance is adhered to.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are in compliance with relevant
legislation. - Ensure statutory deductions are remitted on time to relevant
authorities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) Accounts
Assistant job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree
in Commerce, Accounting or any business related program with a bias in
accounting from a recognized institution - Full or part Professional qualification with ACCA, CPA (U) or any
equivalent is an added advantage - A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience
