Job Summary: The
Communications Officer will increase the Authority’s visibility on all social
media platforms. This involves but not limited to gathering, editing and
publishing social media content that meets Authority’s objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead on ensuring that Authority’s social media platforms are updated
with relevant, accurate information and content aimed at creating
awareness following best practices (with regards to design, usability and
accessibility) and presenting the Authority’s mission, vision and goals
clearly. - Contribute to the creation of content strategy, helping to identify
the most compelling ‘stories’, articles and most effective ways of
communicating Authority’s work via digital channels. - To keep the Authority’s audience/public updated on the new
developments in the insurance industry and how they are beneficial to
them. - Ensure that social media platforms (Facebook, twitter and website
discussion boards on the website are up to date in order to boost
interactivity. - Grow audience and traffic for the Authority’s website and make it a
one stop center for all insurance related information the public requires
and thus grow the number of followers on all Authority’s social platforms
like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedln among others in building
relationships and sharing information. - Actively promote the Authority’s activities, developments and public
awareness campaigns hence increase Authority’s visibility and presence on
all social media platforms. - Monitor, record, evaluate and report on key social media performance
statistics and successes. - Initiate Authority’s multimedia resources, including developing and
maintaining the photo library and produce digital content to promote
Authority’s work. - Assist the Senior Communication’s Officer in preparing and
effectively plan and supervise the production of all Information,
Education & Communication materials like brochures, promotional items,
photography, and videography, documentaries, reports, articles,
advertisements etc within the budgets, and seek approvals within agreed
timeframes; - Work closely with to ensure regular and smooth information flow and
coordination of activities with Communication colleagues. - Keep abreast of the latest innovations in digital communications and
make suggestions for new ways of promoting Authority’s work and messages
online.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda
Communications Officer job placement must hold a Degree in Mass
Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or media related studies; - Membership to a relevant professional body will be an added
advantage - Three years of experience in digital/social media related work with
extensive knowledge of the internet and production on other digital
platforms and how to exploit them. - Excellent writing and editing skills coupled with good interpersonal
relations.
