About ENWASS Programme:
The Enhanced Water
Security and Sanitation Programme (ENWASS), implemented by Deutsche
Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the
German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), aims at
strengthening the institutional, managerial and implementation capacities of
the institutions in the water and sanitation sector in Uganda with regard to
climate change adaptation and sanitation. Component one of the ENWASS programme
aims at supporting Climate sensitive Water Resources Management (IWRM) in
Uganda.

strengthening the institutional, managerial and implementation capacities of
the institutions in the water and sanitation sector in Uganda with regard to

Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that financial and administrative regulations and standard
procedures are complied with. - Preparing, organising internal meetings and managing calendars.
- Organising administrative and logistical aspects of project
activities (meetings, workshops, travel arrangements etc.) - Producing correspondence and creating minutes of meetings.
- Organising office activities including telephone duties, reception
and administration of documents. - Responsible for local procurement including quotations according to
GIZ guidelines - Ensuring that computers, software, printers and communication
equipment function properly. - Filing documents in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s
filing rules and support in reporting. - Handling petty cash, cash withdrawals, keeping the cashbook, bank accounts,
preparing and entering vouchers. - Ensuring that vouchers and receipts are complete as per GIZ
financial requirements. - Monitoring the availability of accessories and stocks and carries
out procurement in accordance with the GIZ guidelines up to the project
internal ceilings. - Performing any other duties and tasks at the request of the project
coordinator. - Be prepared to travel in the project region.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the GIZ Administrative Assistant, (ENWASS)
Programme job placement must hold a University degree in relevant
specialisation and qualification in business administration desirable
(equivalent of BA or MBA). Professional experience - Five years of professional experience in a comparable position.
- Working experience for GIZ, donor agencies, non – governmental
organizations or other international organizations. - Experience in working in related field of Water Supply / Sanitation
/ Water Resource Management is an asset. - Experience in procurement, low level accounting and staff
supervision (e.g. drivers) is highly desirable. Other knowledge,
additional competences - Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone,
fax, email, internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office). - Knowledge of accounting software (e.g. WINPACCS) is an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English, knowledge of
Ngakarimajong would be an asset. - Strong organisational and analytical skills and ability to work well
under pressure and with minimal supervision. - Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.
- High degree of self-motivation and team spirit in a multi – cultural
and interdisciplinary team.
