Job Summary: The Food Hygiene Officer will be responsible for ensuring overall hygiene activities and
food safety in production, storage area and branches and implementation and
sustenance of ISO 22000 – Food safety management system.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create awareness of food safety and hygiene standards to every staff
    at the commissary & branches and ensure compliance to all hygiene
    practices and make sure they understand and adhere to it. Ensure that the
    management is advised on hygiene training needs.
  • Carry out hygiene surveillance audits for all the branches and daily
    hygiene inspection of commissary ensure corrective actions are effectively
    implemented.
  • Keenly monitor and ensure the pest control programme is effectively
    implemented by the contracted Pest control company at the commissary &
    branches. Pest control sighting reports are promptly forwarded for action.
  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of food safety documentation
    standards/ SOP’s at all stages of production at the commissary and report
    any deficiencies to the concerned parties for action.
  • Ensure hygiene and quality records are maintained for Commissary and
    all branches as per ISO 22000 requirements and take appropriate corrective
    action where deviations occur.
  • Keenly analyze microbiological results from the lab on samples and
    swabs from the branches and initiate a root cause analysis and corrective
    action to prevent recurrence for the failed samples.
  • Register, trend and carry out investigations for all food safety
    related complains and ensure corrective actions/preventive actions are
    enforced to prevent future re-occurrence.
  • Ensure all the branches and commissary are maintained clean,
    stewards trained on proper use of chemicals and report any challenges
    experienced.
  • Ensure calibration and verification of equipment used for the
    process are done in a timely manner and records kept.
  • Perform any other duties that shall be reasonably assigned by
    management from time to time.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Improved food safety and hygiene performance of the branches
  • Reduced customer complaints
  • Food safety and hygiene training for all branch staff
  • Corrective action on failed micro results from the lab
  • Branch surveillance audits and corrective action follow ups

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must be in possession of a food science-based degree
    or a Diploma from a recognized institution
  • An additional qualification or experience in ISO 22000/HACCP
  • At least two to three years’ experience
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to inspect, evaluate work of subordinates
