About US:
Uganda Investment
Authority (UIA), a statutory agency is mandated to initiate and support
measures that enhance investment in Uganda and to advise Government on
appropriate policies conducive for investment promotion and growth in the
country.
Job Summary: The
Deputy Director Business Development assists the Director/ Investment Promotion
& Business Development to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate business
registration and aftercare services in order to promote Uganda as a competitive
country for doing business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Advising the Director about trends,
    opportunities, issues and problems impacting investors in Uganda in order
    to facilitate strategic decision making
  • Inventory of impelling and impeding
    ‘factors to doing business in Uganda’ prepared and regularly updated.
  • Participating in regional economic
    integration affairs
  • Conducting annual investor field survey
    and other data collection activities.
  • Conducting continuous liaison with
    partner agencies.
  • Co-ordinating the Presidential Investors
    Round Table
  • Developing integrated information
    systems for efficient sen/ice delivery to prospective investors.
  • Provision of excellent
    customer/aftercare services
  • Champion periodic review of relevant
    laws to investment and advocacy for appropriate changes in the relevant
    legislation affecting investment.
  • Participating in appraisal of
    departmental staff
  • Preparing periodic performance reports
  • Executing any other undertakings as may
    be assigned by the Director

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda
    Investment Authority (UIA) Deputy Director Business Development job
    opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics,
    Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related discipline
  • A Masters’ degree in a relevant
    discipline e. g Business, Economics, Marketing, etc.
  • Seven years of work experience and 5
    years global/regional experience in business development and marketing at
    senior management level
  • Deep knowledge of the global and Ugandan
    business and investment environment
