About US:
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) is the national
professional accountancy body in Uganda, established by the Accountants Act.
The Institute also has a mandate to conduct professional accountancy examinations
in Uganda. The Institute is mandated to also:
        
Regulate and maintain the Standard of
Accountancy in Uganda.
        
Prescribe and regulate the conduct of
accountants and practising accountants in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Management
Information System Officer mainly monitors and maintains the computer systems
and networks of ICPAU. The job holder installs and configures computer systems,
diagnoses hardware and software faults and solves technical and applications
problems, either over the phone or in person.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
        
Provides IT Support to staff, members and
students including procedural documentation and relevant reports
        
Installs and configures computer hardware
operating systems and applications
        
Updates the institute’s websites
        
Monitors and maintains computer systems,
databases, applications, backups and networks;
        
Troubleshoots database queries, system and
network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software problems
before they are escalated
        
Manages the security of the network
        
Repair and maintenance of the institutes IT
Equipment replacing parts as required;
        
Tasked with the maintenance and management of
the servers
        
Supports the roll-out of new applications;
        
Sets up new users’ accounts and profiles and
dealing with password issues;
        
Procurement of IT equipment and some software
        
Develops new database applications/modules
        
Keeps track of the IT Assets
        
Performs any other duties as requested by the IT
in Charge, Head of Finance
Occasional Tasks/Duties:
        
Design the institute’s websites
        
Involvement in the design of new IT systems
        
Training staff, members and students on how to
use the new systems designed
        
Supervision of the cabling work in new offices
        
Making proposals to management for new database
applications/systems/modules
        
Handling database application trainings for
staff as an when required
        
Integration of database applications both
internal and external
        
Involvement in Procurement of ICT items
        
Working with consultants on development/testing
and implementation on new systems
Seasonal Tasks:
        
Involvement in Invigilating exams
        
Managing ICT, registration and other duties at
residential seminars
        
Organizing staff party/reflection and retreats
        
Offering support during major residential
seminars and other activities



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
        
The applicant should preferably hold a
University degree in Computer science or related field business e.g.
information technology; business systems engineering; computer networking and
hardware; computer software development; information technology; internet
engineering; software engineering
        
Two years of relevant practical working
experience in a reputable organization,
        
In-depth knowledge of the programs and
applications, typically Microsoft, Linux, UNIX and Cisco technologies.
        
Customer service experience.
        
Knowledge of MYSQL and Php Programming
        
Ability to think logically;
        
A good memory of how software and operating
systems work;
        
Excellent listening and questioning skills,
combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish
what the problem is and explain the solution;
        
The ability to work well in a team;
        
Flexibility;
        
Problem solving skills;
        
A strong customer focus;
        
Ability to prioritize workload
        
Attention to detail.
