Job Summary: The Pharmacy
Technician will be tasked with the provision of safe, effective and cost
efficient use of medicines throughout the settlement.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
Dispensing of out-patient, discharge, leave, POD
and other prescriptions as required. 
·        
Works closely with Pharmacy and clinical staff
as appropriate to clarify ambiguous prescriptions
·        
Dispensing Controlled Drugs
·        
Generates 
dispensing labels and stock issues from dispensary
·        
Fills and labels final dispensing containers
·        
Completes necessary dispensary documentation
·        
Prepares batches of prepacked medicines
·        
Generates worksheets, labels and other control
documentation for aseptically prepared products
·        
Carrying out aseptic pre-dispensing checks where
appropriate.
·        
Dispensing of aseptically prepared products from
valid prescription/order
·        
Assisting in the training of other pharmacy
staff in particular: Pharmacy Assistants.
·        
Assists in ensuring proper stock control by
taking ownership and responsibility for maintaining stock levels and supporting
the procurement team in the safe, effective and cost efficient use of medicines
throughout the organization.
·        
Participation in the generation of management
information in relevant work areas.
·        
Other duties as assigned



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
                    
·        
The applicant must hold a Degree or Diploma in
Pharmacy
·        
A minimum of two years of post qualification
experience in a hospital or community pharmacy
·        
Knowledge of technical aspects of pharmacy
including purchasing and distribution, dispensing and aseptic manipulations.
·        
Working knowledge of standard office computer
systems and Ascribe pharmacy systems
·        
Detailed knowledge of pharmacy policies and
procedures, including safe and secure handling of medicines.
·        
Ability to support Medical Teams International
Calling
·        
Ability to work collaboratively with others
·        
Skill in aseptic dispensing.
·        
Strong interpersonal skills
·        
Ability to communicate effectively &
professional both verbally and in writing
·        
Flexible, e.g., ability to handle multiple
projects simultaneously
·        
Detail oriented, e.g., ability to maintain
accurate records
·        
Ability to maintain and protect confidentiality.
·        
Intermediate skill with Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook
·        
Ability to work and live in rural community
(preferred)
