has supported development and humanitarian programs in Uganda for over 35
years, working in partnership with local partners. DCA is a member of the ACT
Alliance. Our key competencies in Uganda are livelihoods and food security,
humanitarian response, and civil society development.
About Project:
DanChurchAid (DCA), through a partnership with Mercy Corps, has
received DfID funding to implement a market systems development approach in
Bidibidi refugee settlement to build sustainable livelihoods for refugee and
host communities.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The Senior Market Development Officer will
    actively participate in the
    project baseline study
  • Identify
    and develop opportunities and resources available for the success of the
    project
  • The
    incumbent will introduce the program to relevant stakeholders and foster
    on-going positive cooperation with them
  • Work
    in liaison with relevant stakeholders, plan, implement and monitor market
    system development activities in Bidibidi refugee settlement.
  • Develop
    capacity building materials for business, technical and financial
    capacities as well as participate in capacity building sessions.
  • Implement
    an e-voucher program to host and refugee communities through established
    agents and trader
  • Identify
    value-addition avenues that strengthen economic opportunities.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Senior Market
    Development Officer job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in a business related course
  • At least four years of hands-on experience
    in business
  • Previous exposure and experience with
    market facilitation, supporting systemic change and promoting supporting
    services indirectly
  • Knowledge of the agricultural sector
    highly desirable
  • Practical experience in working with
    micro, small and medium sized companies
  • Strong writing, communication,
    organization, prioritization and negotiating skills.
