About US:
The Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) is the
Institution that brings together all Professional Engineers in Uganda. It was
constituted to promote the general advancement of the science and practice of
engineering in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Executive
Secretary will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Secretariat.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Tasked with Organizing and taking minutes
    of Council meetings
  • Ensuring that Council resolutions are
    implemented
  • In charge of planning, coordinating and
    monitoring activities of the Secretariat
  • Coordinating all branch activities
  • Actively engaging with stakeholders
  • Preparing Secretariat, Council and AGM
    reports.
  • Providing leadership to subordinate staff,
    keeping them motivated and focused on the job.
  • The jobholder will be administering UIPE
    assets
  • Commutating timely information or
    notification of progress towards goals to Council and otherwise act to
    fulfill the goals of UIPE.
  • Setting the annual goals and priorities of
    UIPE
  • Initiate well thought out projects or proposals
    and recommend them for Council Consideration.
  • Conduct the ordinary business of the
    institution in accordance with the Constitution and Rules; and the
    directions of the Council and shall refer to the President or any Vice
    President available, any matters of importance or difficulty requiring
    urgent decisions



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration, Public
    Administration or equivalent;
  • A minimum of four years of relevant
    management experience;
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in any of
    the above will be an added advantage;
  • Membership of a Professional Institution
    is an added advantage.
  • Learning agility (that is willingness and
    ability to play lessons learnt from past experiences to new and first time
    situations and challenges).
  • Knack for building solid relationships
  • Caring nature
