own problems and needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in
Pader, Kitgum, Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.
Job Summary: The Gender
Based Violence (GBV) Project Officer will supervise a team of GBV project staff
to effectively implement SGBV prevention and response activities targeted
refugees in Adjumani.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World
    Relief (LWR) Gender Based Violence (GBV) Project Officer job opportunity
    should hold a University degree
    in development studies, international law, sociology, political science,
    leadership and management or any relevant field with authoritative
    knowledge of issues relating to refugee women, gender, humanitarian and
    development, as well as SGBV prevention and response work experience in
    Results Based Management, including monitoring and reporting.
  • Previous
    exposure and experience with GBV is required.
  • A
    minimum of three years of related experience in humanitarian program
    management, community mobilization SGBV projects with strong
    program/technical and budget management skills.
  • Extensive
    awareness and knowledge of GBV issues, knowledge, skill and experience in
    participatory methods for community education and mobilization
  • Ability
    to work independently while being a strong team player with proven
    supervisory skills
  • Previous
    experience of monitoring and evaluation and LWF procedures and
    project management is also an essential part of this position
  • Prior
    exposure and experience in working with refugees and local communities to
    promote community- based structures and institutions for
    self-management;
  • Proficiency
    in computer programming; word processing, spreadsheets etc.;
  • Previous
    experience in peace building /community security projects;
