The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent,

than 36 countries throughout the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees
and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to promote
durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the basis of
humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in accordance with the UN
Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct for the ICRC and NGOs in
Disaster Relief.
Job Summary: The Child
Protection Case Worker will provide case management services for children
vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence (especially UASC and
CAAFAG) and support the implementation of case management responses. The
incumbent will ensure children harmed or at risk of being harmed are identified
and receive individual case management support by conducting documentation,
assessments, action plans, direct service provision, referrals and follow ups
and will provide support to families in the process of case management,
including foster and alternative care.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The Child Protection case worker will
    conduct all steps of the case management process: Intake, assessment and
    engagement, case planning, supported referrals, developing practical
    skills, case review, building client capacity.
  • Carry out routine visits to the foster
    families and other households with children at risk and assess their needs
    and provide ongoing support to families, foster and alternative care
    systems.
  • Ensure updated filing and documentation of
    Child Protection cases in line with UNHCR and DRC standard tools.
  • Offer basic psychosocial support to
    children and their care givers. Determine the need for therapeutic
    psychosocial or psychiatric support for further referral to specialized
    services.
  • Regularly organize and participate in case
    management meetings at field level.
Project development, implementation and reporting:
  • Support the protection team in the
    provision of technical support to Child Protection community structures
    and local stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all the Child Protection
    interventions adhere to protection standards and principles as well as DRC
    guidelines and accountability standards.
  • Actively contribute to the daily quality
    implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Child Protection related
    projects and interventions in the area of jurisdiction (Rhino camp refugee
    settlement.
  • Work in close collaboration with the
    Protection team, she/he will proactively contribute to quality and timely
    preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Danish Refugee
    Council (DRC) Child Protection Case Worker job placement must hold a
    University degree in psychology, guidance and counseling, social work and
    social administration, social sciences, development studies, or relevant
    fields.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in
    handling cases in humanitarian situation.
  • Profession training in child protection
    minimum standards and processes is desirable.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of case
    management and experience in case management in emergency.
  • Previous experience in protection
    interventions in line with Refugees operation with wide working knowledge
    in BIA and case management processes is desirable.
  • Experience of working with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations.
  • Good communication skills and ability to
    conduct training and awareness campaigns
  • Good computer skills especially Microsoft
    packages.
  • Good organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of Arabic and any other
    languages commonly spoken in the operation area is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the local languages spoken in
    the operation area is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the context of operation
    and UNHCR funded projects is desired.
  • Excellent command of English and ability
    to work with minimum supervision.
