Job Summary: The Laboratory
Focal Mentor will support MSF through the provision of leadership and quality
management of the technical and administrative procedures in all the
laboratories supported by the project. The incumbent will be responsible for training,
supporting and oversight of the performance of the laboratory staff according
to MSF/MOH protocols and the management and maintenance of equipment and
hygiene standards in the unit in order to ensure quality services in support of
the medical team in the diagnosis of patients’ diseases.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Assure Organization and Quality of Lab Services in
the clinic and Decentralized Health Centers (in collaboration with the Lab
Advisor when needed):
·        
Planning follow-up and reviewing of the project the
laboratory activities; proper patients flow in the lab and standardization of
lab request forms
·        
Standard and quality implementation of routine and
specialized laboratory tests and analysis in the project laboratory
·        
Hygiene and infection control measures in the lab
·        
In charge of the collection and preparation of
laboratory specimens and perform analysis/examination
·        
Regular quality assurance review for the lab
activities in the project following the MoH schedules and SOPs/Protocols
·        
Ensure adequate preparation of samples to be sent
for external laboratories analysis
·        
Ensure that all lab personnel maintain patient
confidentiality at all times
·        
Proper Lab activity document and data collection
·        
Ensure proper management of Lab supplies: regular
inventories of lab equipment, lab reagents, tests and consumables; cleaning and
maintenance services for available equipment
·        
Organize and carry out unit specific regular
meetings and trainings to ensure good and stable quality of service
·        
Attend applicable meetings and trainings
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate should be a Ugandan with an approved
Diploma /Degree as Laboratory Technologist
·        
At least two years of practical experience in a laboratory,
preferably as a Lab Tech. Previous experience as a supervisor will be an
advantage          
·        
Significant experience in MSF or another NGO,
desirable experience in a clinical laboratory
·        
Essential computer literacy (word, excel and
internet)    
·        
People Management, Commitment, Flexibility, Results,
Teamwork
·        
Mission language (English) is a must and the local
language skills (Swahili, Lukonjo) a definite advantage but not mandatory
