Uganda) is a commercial bank that focuses on the individual customer, small and
medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as large corporations. The Nigeria-based
parent company United Bank for Africa Plc., started operations in Uganda with a
capital base of US$12 million. The bank’s entry into the Ugandan market along
with other regional heavyweights including Kenya Commercial Bank and Ecobank
Transnational, has energized the country’s financial sector, increasing
competition, resulting in improved customer service across the board. As of
December 2011, the bank’s total assets were valued at about US$50 million (UGX:122
billion), with shareholders’ equity of about US$17.1 million (NGN:2.72
billion).
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee
    overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of procurement for the
    bank.
  • In
    charge of implementing procurement strategies to maintain security of
    supply and optimum value for money.
  • In
    charge of the management of Supply Chain policy & procedure
    development
  • Conduct
    all procurement and contracting activities including pre-qualification,
    tender management, negotiation and preparation of contracts.
  • Set
    policy and guidelines for delivering commercial and cost effective
    procuring process for the business.
  • Develop,
    build, maintain and manage supplier relationships;
  • Implement
    change and develop new processes to better procure goods and services
    partner bank for businesses in Africa with New York, London and Paris.
  • Regularly
    analyze market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and
    processes that support those trends.
  • Review
    current procurement processes and make recommendations where appropriate.
  • To
    have oversight over protocol issues related to travel & VIP
    management.
  • In
    charge of the management of the bank’s fleet of vehicles & inventory.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    Head of Corporate Services should hold a university degree and
    professional qualification in Procurement, Commerce, Economics or Business
    Administration.
  • The
    candidates should possess five or more years’ experience in a similar
    position, are considered on an exceptional basis.
