telecommunications Company in Uganda, providing payphone, fixed lines,
fax/data, internet and mobile services.
Job Summary:  The Senior Manager-Channels will execute
strategy, policies and procedures for the management of the channels and
distribution operations in MTN-U and to manage staff, dealers and franchisees
to achieve set targets. The incumbent will also be responsible for meeting
Prepaid Airtime and Gross Connection Sales targets for the company and assist
GM-Sales in the development of Channel and Distribution strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepaid
    Revenue targets, Prepaid Gross Connections, electronic Sales %, Retail
    Universe outlets
  • Develop
    and implement systems, policies and procedures for smooth operations in
    distribution warehouse
  • Manage
    stock planning, forecasting and analysis for distribution and regional
    warehouses
  • Advise
    and ensure proper implementation of accurate management information system
    for inventory control and stock movements
  • Prepare
    Channel & Distribution strategy – develop and grow MTN’s retail
    universe through franchise and routes to market        
  • Ensure
    MTN’s trade channel remains a competitive advantage in terms of depth,
    breadth, customer experience and branding
  • Develop
    direct marketing channels to market                                                                                     
  • Effectively
    manage dealers and franchisees through business partnerships.                                
  • Deploy
    staff to achieve departmental and Organizational objectives.                                                             
  • Executes
    and monitors MTN Brand initiatives through Retail outlets and to ensure
    that high standards are maintained. 
  • Review
    procedures, policies and work flows of Channels and distribution
    department.                             
  • Maintain
    Customer Service levels and targets in the retail channel                                                
  • With
    Marketing, develop and execute channel promotion plans                                                    
  • Establish
    new distribution channels e.g. EVD, Dealer Me2U.                                                                             
  • Responsible
    for the management of Cost of Sale line item in the business plan (Dealer
    discounts)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the MTN Telecom Senior Manager-Channels should hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree in Marketing or Business Administration. Possession of a relevant Master’s
    degree would be an advantage.
  • At
    least five to six years’ experience in a Retail / Sales Management
    function
  • Good
    business planning and analysis skills
  • Excellent
    analytical skills
  • Good
    Knowledge of Competition and market dynamics
  • Good
    interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability
    to Work long hours
  • Must
    be a team Player
  • Computer
    literacy skills i.e. proficiency in Microsoft Office & Excel
  • Result
    Oriented and target Driven
  • Must
    have high value of Integrity
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of Retail /Distribution structure
    methodologies
