Job Summary: The Quality
Assurance Manager will develop Quality Assurance Systems in both the Brewery
and the trade, coordinate the activities of the various Technical Departments
and bring them into one Integrated Quality System as well as assist with the
implementation and sustenance of ISO Quality Systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Take
    lead of the Quality assurance department in accordance with the SABMiller
    management principles to support the organisation’s overall focus on
    performance and talent management, values, management and self-management
    practices
  • Develop,
    communicate and manage production standards and specifications using
    standard operating procedures across the Technical Function
  • Perform
    scheduled laboratory audits as stipulated in the Quality management system
  • Practice
    and implement the Manufacturing Way within the Quality Assurance
    department and support its implementation across the Technical Function
  • Maintain
    a safe, healthy and risk free working environment
  • Conform
    to value chain requirements through managing and controlling the quality
    environment by optimising the availability of measuring equipment, the QCM
    system and carrying out QC administration
  • Control
    costs in manufacturing through minimising defects in the plant and
    controlling chemical usage
  • Actively
    support roll-out of Global Quality Management systems within the business
  • Ensure
    equipment reliability through Asset management and facilitate problem
    solving
  • Actively
    promote quality excellence in the value chain by communicating process and
    product information, provide leadership to ensure commitment to product
    quality and apply the quality system in the workplace.
  • Ensure
    that the right specifications of raw materials and finished products are
    delivered at all times
  • Carry
    out supplier audits and verify that they meet the required standards as
    stipulated in the QM system.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should preferably hold a Bachelors of Science Degree in
    Chemistry, Biochemistry or Food Science and Technology from an accredited
    University. Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Brewing is an added
    advantage
  • At
    least five years managerial experience in a beverage or similar FMCG
    environment with a focus on quality management
  • Operational
    excellence and improvement bias

    communicator across all levels within and external to the organisation
    with personal gravitas and credibility
  • Customer
    focused mind-set and approach
  • Demonstrable
    problem solving skills with an ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Excellent

  • High
    tolerance for stress and managing the operational realities of the
    business
