About Popsec:
The Population Secretariat (Popsec) which is mandated to carry out
promotion, coordination, Advocacy, Monitoring and Evaluation of the
implementation of population programmes and activities in Uganda, is seeking
qualified and experienced individuals to fit the following vacant positions. The
positions are project based and located in Kampala but will require frequent
travelling to different parts of the country during field work.

Job Summary: The National
Programme Officer (Media Liaison) will oversee and administer a media liason
section that supports information exchange, networking and dissemination of population and development concerns among local,
national and international media.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take lead in the implementation of the
organizations media advocacy and communication strategy. - Set up and promote media relations,
provide media briefs for dissemination of population information. - Systematize press conferences and media
briefings. - Monitor media coverage and the impact on specific
target audiences. - Develop partnership and networks with the
media for promotion of population facts and innovative programmes. - Gather and collect relevant materials,
documents and publications on population and development for the resource
centre, partners and the public. - Develop and apply communications
strategies that will maintain a good public image for population
secretariat. - Assess media professional training needs
and organize and conduct skills development workshops. - Perform any other duties as assigned by
superiors.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a University
degree in media studies, journalism, mass communication plus appropriate
training in practical strategic communication and media fields. - Editorial skills with some knowledge of
population issues - At least three years post qualification
experience in the communications field preferably in a media house
setting. - Knowledge in social media will be an added
advantage.
