About UCCCUL:
Uganda Crane Creameries Cooperative Union Limited (UCCCUL) is a farmers organisation whose main objective is to promote dairy farmers, activities and programmes to improve dairy farming and processing within the region in collaboration with and collaborate with other stakeholders in the dairy sector in Uganda. UCCCUL has received funding from the Agribusiness Initiative (aBi) Trust, to implement the Dairy Value Chain Development Project in the South western region.

Job Summary: The field operations and monitoring personnel will be assigned to monitor primary cooperative societies and unions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Offer support the marketing and promotion of raw milk at primary society.
  • Assist in the diversification of markets for raw milk for primary societies.
  • Support establishment of internal business and financial control systems
  • Training society staff and committee members in financial management Initiate and coordinate mobilization of farmers to join cooperatives for bulking of milk working hand in hand with the mobilization committees
  • Provide UCCCU secretariat with primary cooperative society data regarding sales, membership, milk collection, farm gate price, loan payment on monthly basis.
  • In collaboration with UCCCU staff and technical consultants train the members of the primary societies and unions on good governance and accountability practices by primary cooperative societies.
  • Contributing articles to the annual dairy year magazine.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to lower level staff
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the project coordinator.
  • Assist in the loan recovery for financing of 50% farmer contribution to the acquisition of milk cooling tanks and accessories.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a college diploma in cooperative development or a Bachelor's degree in business studies from a reputable institution.
  • Experience in agribusiness project work will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of accounting/ financial management will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in computer applications of word, excel, SSP and internet.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform all duties in compliance with the financial policy of LASPNET
  • Initiate preparation of the monthly financial returns and statements
  • To receive and enter requisitions into the accounting system for all expenses
  • To ensure that requisitions are all authorised and proper supporting documents attached
  • To maintain financial systems including petty cash, expenses, mileage claims. income and expenditure records
  • To prepare monthly payroll and ensure timely payment of statutory deductions
  • Supervise the staff attendance register and monitor their leave spells
  • To provide general supervision over the support staff in run work related errands like driving, messenger, and cleaning
  • To coordinate the monthly roster of interns and volunteers in liaison with tine Managers
  • To maintain an up-to-date register for assets and follow-up needed supplies
  • Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, or Business Studies with accounting option.
  • Part qualification in ACCA or CPA will be an added advantage.

Job Summary: The Public Health Specialist - Senior Human Resources for Health will be the senior technical advisor, policy analyst, and focal point for human resources for health (HRH), working with the host government and other in-country HIV/AIDS partners to achieve an AIDS-free generation. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a masters of public health or  master of science or a master of arts in, nursing, social work, child development, international development, community development, health policy and planning, behavioral or social science is required.

Detailed knowledge of the host government health care system and structures including familiarity with MOH policies, program priorities and regulations is required.

  • Good working knowledge of team management techniques to plan, organize and direct multi-disciplinary project teams and activities is required.

  • Considerable innovation will be required to influence other collaborative organizations engaged in programs that increase the number of health care workers and improve the quality and effectiveness of care to adopt appropriate strategies for their program activities.
  • Intermediate user level of word processing, spreadsheets and databases is required.  Keyboarding skills that include good speed and accuracy are required. 
  • Numerical skills that include the manipulation of detailed calculations are required.

About Project:  The goal of the Advocacy for Better Health program is to contribute to improvement in quality, availability and accessibility of health services. 1) To ensure that communities in the selected districts can identify and articulate their needs, and are able to demand for quality services;
2) To ensure that the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) develop effective advocacy initiatives, and are able to represent the communities’ demands for  better  quality  services;  and 
3)  To build the technical and operational capacity of the CSOs to qualify them as potential direct recipients of future USAID funding.  This third objective will the primary focus of this position.

Job Summary: The Chief of Party is responsible for the management of all project activities and staff.  S/he will have principal responsibility for representation for the projects to the United States Government (USG) and will serve as representative of the project for the activities and all long-term and short-term personnel under this grant. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee World Vision's work in an assigned program, ensuring that all program goals are met through proper design, staffing, and implementation.
  • Organize and direct the work of local staff and short-term advisors.  Provide supervision, training and performance appraisals.
  • Establish and maintain effective project reporting, evaluation, and communication systems.  Submit timely accurate and professional program reports that meet donor requirements to appropriate World Vision Partnership staff.

  • Ensure grant/project expenses are reasonable, allocable, prudent and spent in accordance with donor rules and regulations to ensure clean A-133 audits.
  • Oversee property and equipment acquisition, disposition, and management in compliance with WV internal and donor requirements.
  • Liaise with host government officials, local communities, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and determine corrective action needed to improve goal achievement by participating and conducting agricultural assistance surveys and rapid appraisal design.
  • Conduct additional responsibilities and projects as assigned, including administrative and planning functions.

  • A  Masters’ degree or higher in a relevant field (management, social sciences, public health, etc.).
  • At least five years of experience in development working with local governments, civil society and communities.

About MUK Project:
The Crane Survey is a health survey project of Makerere University School of Public Health in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Aids Control Program of Ministry of Health. The project plans to conduct a national household-based survey to "Pilot the Size Estimation of Key Populations at Higher Risk for HIV Infection in Uganda".

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of Field Interviewers
  • Ensure Quality control: ensuring questionnaires are filled correctly, completely and perform random spot checks.
  • Check/observe data collection process
  • Coordinate with data manager to ensure daily completed interviews are well backed up Ensure that team members have all required materials
  • Assist in management of field logistics (transport schedules, distribution of interviewers) Report progress and any irregularities to supervisors and study coordinators Any other duties as may be assigned. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Degree from recognised institution
  • Experience with DHS and AIS preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to provide direction and leadership
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisation and planning abilities Reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and committed
Language proficiency: English, Luganda plus other
