Stromme Microfinance East Africa Limited (SMFEA Ltd) is a microfinance wholesale lending company with a mission “to provide, on a sustainable basis, market responsive financial services and capacity bulking support to financial and business service providers to enhance access to financial services by the enterprising poor in the East African Region”.
SMF EA Ltd currently operates in Uganda. Kenya, Tanzania and Sudan.
Job Summary
Reporting to: Board of Directors and working under the direct supervision of the Chairperson. 
·         The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the overall performance of the company in line with: Stakeholders; quality business growth; keeping a focus on the poor and pro-poor strategies, provision of support and guidance to company staff; review and operationalisation of processes, policies and procedures; and reporting.
·         The CEO will also be working closely with Staff of Stromme Foundation East Africa Regional Office
Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Marketing, promoting and marketing of SMF EA Ltd’s activities in the region.
·         Working with the Board and senior management to provide leadership and strategic direction to the company.
·         Ensuring quality business growth, with a high quality loan portfolio.
·         Supervising and providing guidance to company staff.
·         Making periodic revisions to the company business plan, policies and procedures and ensuring successful implementation of the same,
·         Preparation of periodic reports both internal and external use
·         Ensuring that loan applications from existing and potential partners are duty attended to in a timely manner.
·         Identifying and developing of pro-poor products that will meet the partners’ and their client’s needs.
·         Promoting institutional development and capacity building of microfinance partners in the region,
·         Promote Social Performance Management within the company and partner institutions
·         Actively involved in resource mobilization for the company
·         Liaising with various stakeholders and seek strategic alliances and networks
·         Planning and coordinating regular partner performance monitoring
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         A good university degree and postgraduate qualification in Business, Economics, Finance, Microfinance or any other related field from a recognized university.
·         Proactive team player and strong strategic thinker with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management function in the financial services industry. Leadership in a microfinance institution or apex microfinance will be an added advantage.
·         Comprehensive understanding of portfolio management techniques, capacity building, human resource management, strong leadership and technical skills in microfinance filed operations,
·         Appreciation of good corporate governance and shareholder engagement
·         Excellent appreciation of strong microfinance best practice at local, regional and international level.
·         Conversant with and ready to use various analytical tools to measure, evaluate and interpret institutional performance at all levels.
·         Result oriented work habits and initiative
·         Capacity to wont independently guided by the company’s Key strategic objectives and values.
·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of integrity.
·         The person must be available and willing to travel extensively within the region
·         The candidate should not be less than 35 years
·         The CEO should demonstrate exemplary Christian stewardship at all times.
