Job Summary: The Driver – UPLIFT Project will drive authorized UPLIFT project passengers, transport goods and services (information) and check the mechanical condition of the Project vehicle regularly and act accordingly in line with World Vision policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Drive project authorized passengers to specified destinations as approved by the supervisor in line with World Vision vehicle usage policy.
  • Deliver project packages, goods and mails and any other information to specified people, places and offices in line with World Vision policies.
  • Check project vehicle status/condition e.g. engine oil, water, nuts, battery water, license, Third Party Insurance, brakes, tyre pressure etc prior to any journey and carry out regular vehicle repairs e.g. correcting hard start, tightening bolts and nuts, topping up battery water, etc in line with World Vision policy.
  • Monitor the security of project vehicle, authorized passengers and luggage in line with the vehicle policy.
  • Report all major and minor damages and accidents on project vehicle at hand to the supervisor in line with World Vision vehicle policies.
  • Prepare and submit project vehicle monthly reports in line with the World Vision Vehicle Policy.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Driver UPLIFT vacancy should preferably hold an O’ level certificate.
  • Holds a valid driving permit.
  • At least three years of driving experience.
  • Ability to prioritize work in relation to need and urgency.
  • A working knowledge of fax machine, photocopier, computer and telephone preferred.

Job Summary:  The Senior IT Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of the ICT Infrastructure at all the Infectious Diseases Institute Ltd. Offices, as assigned by the IT Manager, Information Services department. The rob holder shall take responsibility for monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting IDI's rapidly expanding technology infrastructure which includes Servers, Networks and Storage systems. He/she must be a diverse individual, with superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. .

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure includes both virtual and physical.
  • Manage and monitor storage and backup systems
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Proactively certify the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers and database administrator to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, related computing discipline.
  • Technical certifications include; DCDC (Data Center Design), CCNA (not mandatory but preferred), MCSE server 2012/LPIC-II, SAN and Database administration
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience in a similar role with solid background in IT infrastructure operations, computer network administration and service delivery.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide other junior technical staff and successfully manage the team work in the IT environment.
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows or UNIX/Linux based environments.
  • Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of windows servers, and NetApp storage
  • Solid Cloud experience, preferably in MS Office 365 and Azure storage
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box, Hyper-V)
  • Experience with monitoring systems
  • Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, engine, Chef)
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)

Job Summary:  The Project Coordinator, Urban Mobility  will support a project to foster integrated urban transport in Kampala, seeking to merge new innovations and enterprises in the city, emerging plans for BRT and other public transport, as well as building on the city’s existing minibus system. In this role, you will work with governments and other stakeholders, such as KCCA, local enterprises in urban transport, minibus operators and others involved in the public transport system of Kampala.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Project Management
  • Liaise with the Kampala officials to scope, launch and foster outcomes towards integrated transport systems in Kampala, ranging from items such as fare integration, user information, and physical infrastructure – working across modes such as minibus taxis, planning for BRT, and other modes such as boda boda, bicycling and walking as modes for last-mile connectivity.
  • Coordinate and interact with social enterprises and entrepreneurs in the city that may interact and be part of an integrated system that incorporates new technologies.
  • Coordinate with WRI Africa and Washington, DC project management staff on urban transport projects, and Shell Foundation staff on advancing the project.
  • Liaise with other WRI offices and partner institutions for data exchange, information requests and project coordination.
  • Coordinate any synergies or mutual contacts and institutional cohesiveness with integrated transport projects in the region, as well as in other countries.
  • Organize internal and external meetings, events and other activities involving other WRI or Shell Foundation staff, external experts and others.
Research, Knowledge and Practice
  • Serve as the point contact and coordinator for project implementation and research work on the visioning and creation of an innovation-based integrated transport strategy for Kampala.
  • Research and create recommendations for integrated transport strategies based on transport data, both existing and new research on items such as accessibility analysis, modal splits, opportunities for physical integration through design, user experience innovations and the like.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project implementation, research and field work. This includes work planning, follow up on project implementation, monitoring progress, preparing reports. Conduct research, literature reviews and synthesize findings; prepare presentations highlighting findings.
  • Coordinate dissemination of research to target audiences like policy makers, academia researchers, and industrial partners.
  • Perform transport data collection, with special emphasis on public transport mapping, routes, integration opportunities for last-mile connectivity, BRT planning and related research;
  • Research, document, evaluate, and analyze emerging trends, best practices, and policies in urban mobility as it relates to the project.
  • Support the maintenance and tracking of key performance indicators and work-plans on shared databases.
  • Participate in field work as required, including site visits, stakeholder outreach, and hosting partners in Kampala.
Writing & Editing
  • Contribute written and graphic content to reports and presentation, and coordinate completion of reports providing recommendations to the city.
  • Write emails, memos, other organizational items regarding the project.
  • May involve review of WRI publications or knowledge products.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree required in transport planning/engineering, or urban/regional planning or design with a focus on transportation; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year of relevant, full time experience in urban transportation planning, road safety, non-motorized transport, road safety auditing or sustainable cities
  • Knowledge or experience with integrated transport systems, including alternatives of last-mile connectivity, BRT, minibus taxis and its context in Kampala
  • Ideal candidate will understand institutions and government agencies in Kampala and the larger African region. Local experience is highly desirable

The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and is a humanitarian non-governmental organization that provides mental health rehabilitation to refugees around the world. In Uganda, CVT provides mental health rehabilitation services to survivors of LRA-inflicted torture and violent trauma; provides on-site mental health clinical mentoring and supervision to counselors in partner NGOs; and works to build a network of mental health service providers in northern Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Associate Psychotherapist/Trainer will build the capacity of psychosocial counselors to provide mental health services to torture and war trauma survivors. This position will oversee and coordinate delivery of mental health interventions for adult and children survivors in affected communities, in the form of individual and group therapy. In addition, the position will liaise with other NGOs, universities and local organizations. The Associate Psychotherapist/Trainer will report to the Clinical Advisor for Mental Health and will receive mentorship from the Psychotherapist/Trainer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Psychotherapy Oversight:  Oversee and coordinate mental health assessments and interventions, and serve as a mentor or co-therapist with Psychosocial Counselors (PSCs) in individual and group settings to model assessment and treatment methods that are both culturally relevant and empirically supported.
  • Clinical Supervision and Training:  Provide frequent, systematic individual and group clinical supervision, including case discussions, live supervision, and self-care components to PSCs. Design and carry out training programs, including didactic training sessions, mentoring, modeling and systematic, close supervision for counseling staff. Continually assess the development of staff and adapt training and coaching accordingly.  Design and carry out external training programs for local mental health professionals, including formal training sessions, mentoring, modeling and clinical supervision. Receive clinical supervision from Clinical Advisor on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
  • Staff Management:  working in conjunction with the Psychotherapist/Trainer, build and maintain a strong and cohesive clinical team. Coordinate workflow, resources and priorities; and facilitate communication across the team. Hire, coach, mentor and develop staff members through ongoing feedback as well as formal performance management systems. Coordinate and facilitate clinical team meetings.
  • Community Assessment:  Mentor PSCs to complete needs assessments, sensitizations, and psychoeducation in affected communities in order to identify target populations, and to determine appropriate mental health interventions for people who have been tortured and/or traumatized by war.
  • Partner Relations and Collaboration: Develop and maintain strategic relationships with community leaders, university representatives and NGO partners in order to facilitate achievement of program goals. Coordinate services with other organizations and provide training to these organizations to better address the needs of identified client populations
  • Reporting:  Contribute to the writing, review and submission of regular reports regarding clinical and training activities.
  • Program Evaluation:  With country team and in consultation with research department staff, participate in the design and implementation of program evaluation.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an advanced degree in psychology, counseling, clinical social work or related field
  • Two years of experience providing individual and group psychotherapy to trauma survivors
  • One year of experience supervising mental health professionals and paraprofessionals

  • Understanding of and experience developing curricula and providing tailored training for mental health counselors on counseling approaches, sensitization on the effects of trauma and war, and designing culturally and contextually appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience training varying levels of mental health workers, including psychologists with graduate degrees and supervision responsibilities and paraprofessionals with no or limited prior exposure to mental health work; and demonstrated ability to provide them with on-the-job coaching, supervision, and support to ensure continuous capacity building and no harm to the clients.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity in professional environments, ideally in mental health care.
  • Experience working in environments with limited resources and infrastructure.
  • Skilled at carrying out program needs assessments, program development and program evaluation.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience initiating systems for the efficient workflow of a team.
  • Skilled at working as a member of a team, as well as managing a team and supporting positive dynamics.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in environments with limited resources and infrastructure and in an isolated environment lacking in amenities.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing program requirements, client needs and political climate.
