The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.

Job Summary:  The Geologist (Technical Evaluation) will be responsible for geological data interpretation submitted to the Authority. He / She will participate in reviewing geological well proposals submitted by oil companies. He / She will be responsible for generating geological maps and reports.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Undertake interpretation of all geological data submitted by oil companies
  • Generate geological maps and reports;
  • Generate prospect and interpret prospect maps
  • Participate in reservoir and basin modelling.
  • Participate in the review of geological well proposals submitted by operators
  • Participate in selection of relevant geological data to be acquired in the licensed areas.
  • Compile Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) Geologist (Technical Evaluation) job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Petroleum Geoscience or Geology from an internationally recognized institution.
  • At least three years of relevant working experience in the oil and gas sector, in a busy and well-organized institution

  • A Master’s degree in Petroleum Geoscience from an internationally recognized University.

Job Summary:  The Supply Associate (Procurement) supports procurement activities within Headquarters. The incumbent maintains regular contact on a working level on routine issues with other Units, Sections, Divisions at Headquarters, and UNHCR field offices, UN agencies, NGOs and commercial contractors in the area to facilitate procurement activities. The incumbent may supervise general service staff in the office, and reports to the (Associate/Assistant) Supply Officer. The duties of the incumbent are to support the procurement process within the specific area covered by the organisational unit while exercising efficiency in the procurement process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Conduct spend analyses using historical spend data to identify trends that can be used to plan procurement activities and Frame Agreements.
  • Quickly respond to field requests for information and advice and coordinate responses from a range of HQ units to provide a clear, consistent and timely response to the field.
  • Analyse matters relating to procurement activities, and deliver information on all procurement activities within area of responsibility.
  • Provide guidance and advice on UNHCR procurement policies and procedures to support and assist requesting sections.
  • Evaluate purchase requisitions to ensure that specifications, delivery dates and all other requirements are in order. Process requests received for procurement of assigned goods/products.
  • Draft and dispatch quotation requests and/or tenders.
  • Assist in the evaluation of offers and draft bid-tabulations.
  • Prepare and review proposals for award of contracts to the Committee on Contracts.
  • Prepare Purchase Orders and send confirmations, requests for inspection and other correspondence.
  • Monitor the manufacture/transport of ordered goods to ensure timely delivery.
  • Establish Frame Agreements for the required item or item group.
  • Identify, assess and select vendors based on their capability for delivering commodities and services.
  • Coordinate activities of vendors performing supply related activities, and ensure that they understand and adhere to relevant UNHCR rules and procedures.
  • Monitor performance of vendors under Frame Agreements by analysing the products and delivery performance. Maintain vendor and item master databases.
  • Prepare and review proposals for award of contracts to the Committee on Contracts.
  • Participate in Committee on Contracts meetings, probe unclear issues and participate with expert procurement advice, when requested. Follow up on decisions or actions from the Committee.
  • Keenly monitor the quality and accuracy of supply chain related data in relevant business systems.
  • Compile and analyse statistical information, identify trends and developments in supply chain related matters that will assist in decision making.
  • Any other responsibility deemed necessary or as delegated by the supervisor in order to meet the level of service requires by the organisation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Job Summary:  The Data Clerk will support data collection and reporting activities to ensure the quality and accountability of the programs implemented by Action Against Hunger.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Support data collection and Enter Data
·         Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities.
·         On a daily basis enter nutritional data and beneficiary lists in to the data bases
·         Verify data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; combining data from multiple sources when needed; purging files to eliminate duplication of data.
·         Enter new and updated information in a timely manner, in alignment with the schedules and keep immediate supervisor informed of progress
·         Occasionally required to participate in data collection and report outcomes to immediate supervisor
·         Attend all data related trainings and participate in research activities including providing support to research teams as required
Analyze Data
·         Process and validate source documents by reviewing data for completeness and accuracy; resolving inconsistencies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the program team and M&E Officer.
·         Derive elaborative statistical tables especially using excel pivot, excel analyzer, Access, ENA/NACs
·         Produce word format report on results when needed
·         Test new system changes and upgrades by inputting new data and reviewing output.
·         Produce weekly trend analysis of project progress
File Data
·         Secure information by completing data base backups in one central location with the M&E Officer.
·         File and archive questionnaire in hard/paper copy and computer electronic copy of data collected
·         Code beneficiary names and lists appropriately
·         Keep minutes of the program meetings and regular reports
·         Classify base files for onward submission for archives
Reporting and Documentation
·         Transmit electronic data to the M&E Officer
·         Submit monthly report to supervisor in a timely manner
·         Uphold quality checks at all times to eliminate errors in data captured and shared
·         Maintain confidentiality of all data in his custody.
·         Focus attention to detail and pose queries to / inform field teams of areas that need improvement for immediate correction.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·         The ideal candidate for the Action Against Hunger (ACF) Data Clerk job must hold a Diploma in statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Secretarial Studies, Records Management or related disciplines.
·         One year of experience in supporting research, data collection, data entry or nutrition project implementation in a busy organizational setting.
·         You are proficient in relevant computer applications, particularly MS Word, MS Excel and Access. Proficiency in NACs/ ENA, a strong advantage;
·         You have strong computer-related skills, including typing, scanning, e-mailing, file uploading, file management;
