About US:
The National Information Platform for Nutrition (NIPN) is an initiative of Government of Uganda and the European Commission supported by the United Kingdom Department for International Development and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation being implemented in selected countries including Uganda. Therefore, the Delegation of the European Union in Uganda has funded a project to establish a Uganda National Information Platform for Nutrition (NIPN). The initiative aims to strengthen National capacity to make better use of existing information and data to inform policies, programmes and interventions in all sectors that could contribute to better nutrition for the Ugandan population. This process requires analysis of current policies and programmes to identify issues; a systematic review of existing information both Internationally and Nationally on the issue identified; and, when useful, the analysis of existing data from Uganda to shed light on nutrition. The project is being implemented by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in partnership with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), and in collaboration with all the sectors involved in the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The Communications Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of a communication and visibility plan for the NIPN; development of outputs in suitable formats and ensuring output dissemination
  • Develop and produce of communication tools about the project; and for helping analysis and policy staff to communicate the results of their analysis to different audiences depending on their needs and background.
  • Work with the senior policy analysis advisors and with technical staff from Ministries, Departments and Agencies to write the documents and outputs required.
  • Support the implementation of the communication strategy of the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold an advanced Degree (Masters) in Mass Communication, Public Relations or Journalism. Must have evidence of writing and publishing
  • Five years of experience of successful professional experience as a communications officer, with a specialist interest in science, food security and nutrition, agriculture or health is useful.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Experience of writing about complex technical matters in simple and clear language, driven by the need for comprehension
  • Ability to work in a team and to establish or engage with communications networks
  • Excellent organisational skills, rigorous attention to detail and an ability to work autonomously. An ability to work in a stressful environment and to meet strict deadline
  • A good knowledge of the most common software used in the design of communication materials
  • A good knowledge of software to prepare presentations.

About US:
The Vegetable Oil Development Project Phase 2 (V0DP2) is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) funded by IFAD and Government of Uganda (GOU). The V0DP2 goal is to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in the project area. The Development objective is to increase the domestic production of vegetable oil and its’ by products, thus raising rural incomes for smallholder producers and ensuring the supply of affordable vegetable oil products to Ugandan consumers and neighboring regional markets. VODP2 has three components; the Oil palm Development Component, the Oilseeds Development Component and the Project Management Component. Through the project, Government of Uganda is investing in the development of oilseed crops (sunflower, soybean, sesame & groundnuts) value chains in fifty one districts in Eastern and Northern Uganda, and cultivation of oil palm in Kalangala and Buvuma Districts.

Job Summary:  The Oil Seeds Coordinator (OSC) will be managing the successful planning and implementation of the Oilseed component activities under the project

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Co-ordinate and supervise all oil seeds development activities under the project.
  • Ensure project implementation, management and timely production of the component reports in compliance with Project Operations and Financial Management Manual.
  • Liaise closely with the Hub Coordinators to ensure implementation of the oil seeds annual workplan and budget.
  • Initiate, promote and broker linkages between the key actors in the oil seeds value chain, such as millers and traders, input suppliers and cooperatives and other producer organizations and services such as research, extension and quality control services.
  • Oversee the performance of contracted service providers for extension, quality control, cooperative development, research, and others.
  • Provide technical guidance and backstopping on oilseeds value chain development activities.
  • Participate in collection, analysis, storage and dissemination of oil seed value chain data, as foreseen in the results framework such as for milling, trading, production and input supply as well as services.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of oilseeds development activities.
  • Assess training needs for staff in all areas of oil seed value chain development such as agribusiness development, cost-benefit analysis, agronomy, seed production, and quality and post-harvest management for oilseeds through regular consultations with other professionals, relevant institutions and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders in the development of training packages on oil seeds value chain development for specific target groups (farmers, groups, millers, artisans input supplies seed stockists).
  • Liaise with policy makers in MAAIF and other relevant ministries on lessons learnt in oil seed sub-sector development and with the oilseeds subsector organizations as well as trade organizations.
  • In close collaboration with research, identify and promote the use and production of seed of other suitable/emerging oilseed crop varieties.
  • In close collaboration with the Knowledge Management Specialist, liaise with other institutions and agencies involved in oilseed development and collate and package information for use by farmers, staff and other stakeholders.
  • In close collaboration with other Project Monitoring Unit staff and implementing agencies, compile sectional progress reports, work plans and budgets.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as may be instructed by the Supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Agribusiness or related field from a recognized university.
  • A post-graduate qualification in Agribusiness, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics or any other related
  • Eight years’ experience in working with private sector with an orientation towards value chain development in agriculture development projects.
  • Good knowledge of participatory approaches for multi-stake holder and community-based activity planning, budgeting and accountability.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial/marketing strategies for agricultural commodities would be an advantage.
  • A professional of high standing with strong leadership and communication, facilitation and team building skills.
  • Good knowledge of computer applications particularly MS Excel, Word, Access and Power point,
  • Excellent report writing skills

Job Summary: The Driver – UPLIFT Project will drive authorized UPLIFT project passengers, transport goods and services (information) and check the mechanical condition of the Project vehicle regularly and act accordingly in line with World Vision policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Drive project authorized passengers to specified destinations as approved by the supervisor in line with World Vision vehicle usage policy.
  • Deliver project packages, goods and mails and any other information to specified people, places and offices in line with World Vision policies.
  • Check project vehicle status/condition e.g. engine oil, water, nuts, battery water, license, Third Party Insurance, brakes, tyre pressure etc prior to any journey and carry out regular vehicle repairs e.g. correcting hard start, tightening bolts and nuts, topping up battery water, etc in line with World Vision policy.
  • Monitor the security of project vehicle, authorized passengers and luggage in line with the vehicle policy.
  • Report all major and minor damages and accidents on project vehicle at hand to the supervisor in line with World Vision vehicle policies.
  • Prepare and submit project vehicle monthly reports in line with the World Vision Vehicle Policy.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

About CEMS:
Comprehensive Emergency Medical Support (CEMS) – Field Emergency and Inpatient Unit + Comprehensive Primary and Secondary Health Clinic. The CEMS Project is contributing to run a static emergency medical unit 24/7 in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement that is serving the refugee community mainly from DRC, as well the host community.

Job Summary:  The Storekeeper is responsible for the maintenance of a department’s storeroom which includes but is not limited to, stocking of operational materials and supplies, inventory control and records, purchasing, and related duties as required. The Stores Keeper is responsible for all the logistic matters at the field, and as so should be an organized and detail-oriented person to manage all of the operations in the hospital’s storeroom. In this position, plays a key role in the proper care and maintenance of stock, including ordering, receiving, and managing inventory. Should keep an accurate information about the inventories so according to stock plan let the management plan according to the information. The Storekeeper should also coordinate and participate in special and scheduled stock counts as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Keep an inventory of equipment and supplies in the CEMS and maintain monthly updated inventory;
  • Maintain receipts, records, and withdrawals of the stock room;
  • Tasked with receiving incoming materials and compare what has been shipped with the shipment order;
  • Ensure that the pieces of equipment and materials in the CEMS are in good condition and fully operational;
  • Stock the supplies in the storage and file all corresponding documentation;
  • Perform other stock-related duties, including returning, packing and labelling supplies;
  • Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies and report those to account for reimbursements and record keeping;
  • Ensure adequate record keeping and manage all documentation to confirm proper stock levels and maintain inventory control;
  • Coordinate the handling of freight, the movement of equipment, and necessary minor repairs;
  • Performs related and peripheral site-specific duties as required.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the ADRA Uganda Storekeeper job placement should have three years of previous experience in logistics and/or store procurement
  • Ability to work in 8 hours shift, 5 working days
  • Fluent in English, Swahili and French
