Job Summary:   The Driver will be responsible for administrational support to the institution in the areas of maintaining a sound fleet of company vehicles, in good conditions and aiding the business to swiftly deliver as expected bearing in mind the compliance to occupational health and safety and brand of UGAFODE (MDI) among others.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        Managing vehicle conditions: Responsible for managing UGAFODE's vehicles/property in good working condition at all times i.e. mechanically, cleanliness, and with valid licenses so as to efficiently and effectively enhance business operations.
·        Vehicle cost containment: Monitors mileage and ensures prudent management of company fuel card including requisitions for fuel, fuel usage and reporting from time to time.
·        Reporting: pertaining to the condition and status of company vehicle within your control and supervision. Ensuring accountability is done within time and regularly for all expenses advanced for fuel and vehicle maintenance services as well as reimbursable.
·        Scheduling and coordination of movements by staff, fellow drivers and company vehicles to minimize business interruptions with the business units and Administration department.
·        Responsible for maintaining UGAFODE (MDI) brand visibility on all vehicles to minimize reputational risk to UGAFODE at all times.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        The applicant for the UGAFODE Microfinance Limited Driver job placement must hold an Advanced certificate of Education (UCE) or any “O” level class backed by sufficient experience on the road, Diploma/certificate in Mechanical engineering or Auto mechanics is desired
·        Commensurate experience in Mechanical and or defensive driving is a MUST
·        Good knowledge of Ugandan driving laws, road safety and transport.
·        High degree of accountability, responsibility and commitment to duty and service
·        Tact, swiftness and attention to detail

About US:

The Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB), a leading Christian organization coordinating 302 Member Health facilities all over Uganda is implementing a five-year Local Service Delivery (HIV/AIDS) Activity supported by USAID to be implemented in three USAID regions of Uganda (Gulu, Mbarara, Jinja). The project will support private not-for-profit (PNFP) sites to address gaps through optimization of high yielding HIV Testing and Counseling Services approaches, improved retention and viral suppression, provision of HIV/TB care and treatment, scale up services to reach men and key populations, strengthen the PNFP institutional capacity and quality for sustainable service delivery and contribute to Uganda’s efforts in reaching and maintaining epidemic control.


Job Summary:  The Driver will be responsible for providing day-to-day support in transporting staff/consultants and or goods to project activities in line with vehicle use policies. The Driver oversees maintenance of the vehicle. This position will report directly to Administration and Human Resource Officer in the case of project national office, and to the Administrative Assistant in the case of regional offices.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        Drives assigned vehicle safely while maintaining courtesy to the passengers and other road users.

·        Provides logistical support to all project staff and official visitors to the project areas on official project activities.

·        Carries out basic daily routine checks on vehicle maintenance, i.e., checking the oil, lighting, electrical, brakes and tire pressure.

·        Maintains accurate, up-to-date records for all trips in the vehicle log sheet. The log sheet is updated for every destination/stop per trip.

·        In liaison with the supervisor and manager responsible for the trip, coordinates movement schedule in the most effective way to avoid interruptions.

·        Prepares a monthly vehicle maintenance, service and fuel consumption report and submits to the supervisor for verification by close of business every second day of every month, for the previous month.

·        Ensures that the vehicle is always fueled at designated fueling station with the minimum level of fuel (quarter tank).

·        Maintains an up-to-date record of vehicles servicing, insurance and brings to the attention of the supervisor date of the next services and or renewal.

·        Immediately reports any incidents and or accidents, using the relevant reporting forms, within 24 hours of incident or accident.

·        Always maintains vehicle cleanliness both inside and outside.

·        Responsible for the safety and security of the vehicles assigned at all times and that of the passenger(s), vehicle accessories and or goods therein.

·        Observes and always adheres to traffic rules

·        Always ensures safe custody of the fuel card under driver’s care.

·        Monitors and verifies that all required repair works are done to satisfaction before the related payment is made.

·        Supports technical staff work while in the field.

·        Other relevant tasks as assigned.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The incumbent must hold an O’ Level certificate.

·        Relevant valid driving license.

·        At least 3 years driving experience in a similar role in a busy office.

·        Basic vehicle mechanical skills.

·        Good knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel).

·        Familiarity with project geographical areas.

·        Effective Interpersonal skills.

·        Fluency in English in both oral and written communication.

·        Willingness to support UPMB's mission.

Job Summary:  Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer-Facility and in direct coordination with Logistics Teams, the Driver will ensure good and safe transport of HI staff and equipment and ensure the maintenance of the vehicles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services.
·        Ensure the respect of the Ugandan traffic law while driving HI vehicles;
·        Follow the Line Manager planning and instructions;
·        Follow the instructions of the manufacturer and the HI rules when using the vehicle;
·        Collects and delivers mail, and other communications from and to the post office, government agencies and other institutions, if requested by your line manager;
·        Carry out banking/financial and other office out-door messenger related duties;
·        Keep all personal documents as well as those of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid (driving licence, insurance paper, HI ID card, HI Waiver of liability form…);
·        Fill in the Log book every day according to HI procedures;
·        Behave in a respectful way at check point and/or to police officer and/or to military keeping in mind that you are representing HI;
·        Respect HI security rules;
Ensure the maintenance of the vehicle with respect to HI vehicle management procedure.
·        Carry out daily checks before starting up the vehicle (oil level; water level; pressure of the tires etc…)
·        Wash the car when needed and upon request from line manager.
·        Make sure that the security tool box and first aid kit are complete and on board.
·        Make sure the fuel tank is always half full.
·        Inform the line manager when service is necessary.
·        Solve minor technical problems.
·        Inform the logistics department of any major repairs to be carried out.
·        Follow the car rental supplier during his maintenance visit
·        Record all the maintenance done in the log book of each vehicle.
Ensure the respect of the departure and arrival time of your movement.
·        Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time.
·        Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to the needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit).
·        Guarantee the good loading and unloading of the car and tight the goods in an appropriate way.
·        Know the area map, especially HI staff houses, INGOs offices, UN offices … and relevant partners’ offices.
·        Make sign a Waiver of Liability form letter for none HI staff.
Respect of HI identity, rules and policies
·        Know, understand, apply and respect HI code of conduct and ethics, HI mandate and values, HI rules and operating procedure, HI policies (child protection policy, policy and mechanism for the prevention of and fight against bribery, the protection of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse policy) and make sure they are known, understood, applied and respected by its team
·        Know, understand, apply and respect HI security rules and make sure they are known, understood and applied by her/his team
·        Regular refresher trainings are organized

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Job Summary:  The Ambulance Driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good condition and perform activities as per the Job description in accordance to the fleet policies and procedures.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        The physical security of the vehicle.

·        The daily maintenance of vehicles and of any accessories supplied with the vehicle.

·        Ensuring full onboard documentation.

·        Knowing how to use onboard equipment such as 4x4, radios or winches.

·        Knowing how to change a wheel.

·        Completing routine maintenance checks as detailed by the Fleet Assistant.

·        Operating vehicles in a manner maximizing the safety of passengers and of other road users.

·        Ensuring that they undertake only IRC business and transport only IRC-approved personnel.

·        Complying with all local road laws and appropriate customs.

·        Complying with all security directives.

·        Maintaining the vehicle’s log sheet.

·        Ensuring that the vehicle has sufficient fuel.

·        Maintaining the external and internal cleanliness of the vehicle.

·        In order to maximize the working life of IRC vehicles and minimize the risk of breakdown, vehicles must be scrupulously maintained.

·        On a daily basis the driver will conduct a vehicle checklist, inspect and remedy (at minimum) if needed, all engine lubricant, hydraulic, coolant and washer fluid levels, fan belts and fans, rubber hoses, leakages, battery, condition, mountings, and connections, fuel, accessories and documentation etc.

·        Prepare a Daily vehicle checklist and submit to the Fleet Assistant.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The ideal candidate for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Ambulance Driver job placement must hold an ‘A’ Level education or its equivalent.

·        Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.

·        Valid driving license Class; B, CM, DL.

·        At least five years of experience as a professional driver in INGO or NGO.

·        No road safety-related fines or convictions.

·        Good written and spoken English.

·        Visual Test.

·        Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations.

·        Good knowledge of the operation and components of vehicle.

·        Safe/defensive driving skills.

·        Skills in routine vehicle maintenance.

·        Knowledge (or ability to quickly learn) of HF, VHF and satellite communications equipment

·        Team spirit and problem-solving abilities

·        Able to carry out limited, un-supervised tasks
