Driver/ Administration Assistant Job Vacancies - GIZ

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·       Safely and responsibly performing all official travel using official vehicles.
·       Regularly servicing and looking after official vehicles.
·       Taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations.
·       Running official errands and assisting with other office work.
·       Strictly follows GIZ rules including GIZ safety standards. Completes the vehicle log correctly and conscientiously in accordance with GIZ standards.
·       Provides passenger transport in an official car for office, project or programme staff official visitors and guests.
·       Run  errands for the project, programme or office, e.g. sending letters and messages, paying bills and buying smaller quantities of office supplies.
·       Helps with transporting goods.
·       Complete the vehicle log correctly and conscientiously in accordance with GIZ standards.
·       Regularly cleans the interior and exterior of the vehiclels) regularly
·       Checks oil, water, brakes and brake liquid, Tyre pressure, battery levels and the entire vehicle, monthly or every 5,000 km (whichever is first), headlights, brakes, bodywork for dents etc.
·       Responsible for the project vehicle documents and their good condition, keeping a vehicle log and recording monthly maintenance
·       Reports need for service and carries out minor repairs
·       Immediately reports all involvement of the project or office vehicle in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss or theft of vehicle fittings.
·       Monitors and reports the need to renew car insurance incl. official cars used by other programme personnel
·       Compiles driver reports on condition of vehicle.
·       Wears proper attire
·       Serves all passengers in a friendly manner
·       Takes team members to the field (travelling to all regions in Uganda is necessary on a regular basis)
·       Runs errands for the programme e.g. delivery of letters/messages, payment of bills, and makes minor purchases as directed
·       Is responsible for official documents in vehicle
·       Is responsible for a special petty cash and submits vouchers for accounting on a monthly basis
·       Does not use, at any time, the car for his/her own private purposes. Such misuse of the vehicle is considered a serious misconduct, and will immediately lead to a warning and may result in dismissal
·       Uses all available information (including current radio news on traffic conditions) to update daily knowledge of road conditions, current passable routes and locations, and shares this information with other office drivers
·       If there is no outside driving activity, s/he stands by in the office, supports other colleagues in case of need, and does other office work as assigned
·       Reports any incident whilst off duty that may affect his/her driving licence entitlement, as well as any newly known health problems that may affect his/her ability to drive
·       Assists in and/or carries out other activities and any tasks as assigned
·       Undertakes further job training related to his/her position and duties, if required.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·       The ideal candidate should have Secondary school education/ Advanced secondary Education.
·       Holds a valid driver's licence
·       Defensive Driving skill is an added advantage
·       Good knowledge of both spoken and written English language.
·       Discipline and punctuality.
·       Resilience and patience.
·       Familiarity with the respective duty station and Uganda generally.
·       Appropriate appearance and attire (possibly uniform, friendly manner with all passengers).
·       Ensures unrestricted availability of vehicles at all times and reports restrictions immediately.
·       Willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed and corresponding measures are agreed with management.
·       At least 1-3 years’ work experience as a driver with references
·       No major accidents in the past 3 years

IRC has a country office in Kampala, a regional office in Lamwo, Moroto, West Nile and in South western Uganda. Given the conflict outbreak in South Sudan, IRC extended its services to Palabek refugee settlement to support refugees being settled in Lamwo district.

Job Summary:  Under the supervision and guidance of the health facility in-charge and the Transport Officer, The Ambulance Driver will be responsible for the safe transportation of referral patients; care takers and maintenance of IRC vehicles and their accessories. .

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·       Inspect and record the condition of the vehicle daily; prepare weekly maintenance checklist.
·       Ensure timely servicing and maintenance of IRC vehicles (complete service request forms and maintain service maintenance records); report to SCM any mechanical problems.
·       Ensure vehicle is insured and all legal documents are always in order; inform SCM three weeks in advance of any renewals due (i.e. insurance, road license, etc.).
·       Conduct daily assessments of road conditions and security situation.
·       Drive patients and their care takers in a safe and courteous manner to health facilities across the country.
·       Deliver mail/messages as directed
·       Operate HF and VHF mobile radio equipment.
·       Maintain cleanliness of interior/exterior of vehicle.
·       Give accurate reconciliation within the given period.
·       Always obey IRC vehicle policy and operating procedures (use of logbook, no drinking and driving, signing out vehicle on vehicle registry and so on).
·       Assist programs or SCV in loading cargo for the field.
Confidentiality:
·       Ensuring the non-disclosure of any information whatsoever relating to the practices and business of IRC acquired in the course of duty, to any other person or organization without authority, except in the normal execution of duty.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·       At least  Ordinary Level Certificate, A Level Certificate is an added advantage
·       Valid driver’s license with classes “A, B & DL”
·       At least two (2) years’ driving experience preferably with NGOs.
·       Able to pass the IRC driving test.
·       Demonstrated teamwork skills.
·       Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·       Transport materials over land
·       inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
·       Picking materials for delivery, based on an authorization from the stores in line with company policy.
·       Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
·       Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
·       Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
·       Collect and verify delivery instructions

Job Summary: The Driver will provide transport services to staff and maintenance of MJAP Vehicles in line with the Administrative Guidelines, rules and regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·       Maintaining vehicles in road worthy condition and fuel them whenever necessary and report major mechanical faults and accidents  that require management action in line with vehicle maintenance and accident policies
·       Transport staff and authorized person(s) to a required destination and deliver mails or goods to the specified destinations according to organization requirements.
·       Maintain and update trip movement records (e.g. log books, fuel cards, etc.) and account for funds spent on driving operations in line with the standard accounting procedures and reporting requirements
·       Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle  and the image of MJAP to the public in line with the organizational requirements and the Uganda road safety guidelines
·       Renew organizational vehicle licenses and other related permits in line with vehicle policy and traffic laws
