Job Summary:  The Senior Driver is responsible for the implementation of transport and fleet management in order to support program implementation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services
·        Ensure the respect of the Ugandan traffic law while driving MI vehicles
·        Follow the Line Manager's planning and instructions
·        Carry out office out-door messenger related duties
·        Keep all personal documents as well as those of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid (driving license, insurance paper)
·        Fill in the logbook every day according to MI procedures
·        Respect MI security rules
Ensure the maintenance of the vehicle with respect to MI vehicle management
·        Carry out daily checks before starting up the vehicle (oil level; water level; pressure of the tires etc.)
·        Wash the car when needed and upon request from line manager
·        Make sure that the security toolbox and first aid kit are complete and on board
·        Inform the line manager when service is necessary
·        Solve minor technical problems
·        Inform the logistics department of any major repairs to be carried out
·        Record all the maintenance done in the logbook of each vehicle
Ensure the respect of the departure and arrival time of your movement
·        Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time
·        Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to the needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit)
·        Guarantee the good loading and unloading of the car and goods in an appropriate way
·        Know the area map, especially MI staff houses, INGOs offices and relevant partners' offices
·        Ensure that non-MI staff sign a waiver of liability form
Supporting the logistics officer
·        Contribute to the compilation of accurate monthly fuel usage reports for all vehicles
·        Ensuring monthly vehicle service and maintenance reports are submitted on time
·        Oversees fuel consumption purchase and tracking
Safety and Security
·        Working closely with the Security Focal Person (SFP) to proactively ensure staff safety
·        Assists the SFP in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the project location
·        Assists the SFP in reporting security incidents affecting MI personnel, offices and assets for the project location
General: Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        The ideal candidate for the Malteser International Senior Driver job must hold a diploma in Logistics/Procurement/ fleet management /Business Administration or related field
·        Three years of experience as a driver with good understanding of INGO procedures
·        Experience as a logistician is an added advantage
·        Strong organizational skills
·        Computer literate with hands on MS Office programs, especially in MS Excel
·        A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action as to not delay program activities

The Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) is a specialized institution of the East African Community (EAC) whose mandate is to coordinate the management and development of fisheries and aquaculture resources in the EAC region. The LVFO Secretariat is stationed in Jinja, Uganda.


About E€OFISH programme:

LVFO received a grant from the European Union (EU) to implement -Contribution of Sustainable Fisheries to the Blue Economy of the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Region – ECOFISH programme. The overall objective is to enhance equitable economic growth by promoting sustainable fisheries in the East African-South African-Indian Ocean (EA-SA-IO) region. The specific objective is to support sustainable management and development of fisheries, while addressing climate change resilience and enhancing marine biodiversity. The programme purpose is to support the implementation of fisheries management interventions on Lake Victoria.


About TRUEFISH Project:

LVFO has further received funding from EU through FAO to implement the TRUEFISH project. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the development of a competitive, gender equitable and sustainable commercial aquaculture sector in order to support economic development and sustainable management of natural resources in the Lake Victoria basin. The project will deliver three result areas which include BUSINESS (access to commercial networks), SKILLS (availability and quality of local skilled workers in aquaculture-related businesses) and SUSTAINABILITY (sustainable and bio-secure regional aquaculture production systems).


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        Perform driving duties in accordance with schedule and instructions given by the Supervisor;

·        Utilizing navigation apps to find the most optimal route;

·        Responsible for the cleanliness, safety and proper running condition of the assigned vehicles; reporting to the supervisor any mechanical fault on a vehicle in a timely manner.

·        Ensure adherence to service schedules and renewal of insurance premiums of vehicles; vehicles have to be sufficiently serviced, with sufficient fuel and are always ready for use.

·        Advise the Supervisor of any perceived threats pertaining to the vehicles;

·        Ensure that any trip outside the working station has a prior written approval;

·        Up to date maintenance of the vehicle logbook and any other reports in accordance with the Organization’s Staff Rules and Regulations, i.e. (i) all trips within and outside the working station must be recorded in the logbook, (ii) all fuel requisitioned and the kilometers run by the vehicle, spanners, batteries and tyres fitted must be recorded in the logbook;

·        Any accident or damage to the vehicle must be immediately reported to the Supervisor, the Traffic Police and the Insurance Company.

·        Interacting with clients (where need be) in a professional manner.

·        Maintaining an organized travel schedule.

·        Perform other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The applicant for the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) Project Driver should hold an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education or equivalent

·        Defensive driving/Advanced driver’s certificate (VIP) or equivalent

·        At least three (3) year’s driving experience with a reputable organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·       Always ensure safety of passengers & luggage by observing speed limits, use of seat belts, proper communication and use of YGM travel guidelines.

·       Road test and certify all vehicles from the garages

Job Summary:  The driver is primarily responsible for providing services including driving, logistics, minor vehicle maintenance and security safety for WCH Uganda staff and activities.

Objective of the job
·        To ensure safety during driving by following Ugandan traffic laws and WCH internal guideline.
·        To properly and reliably ensure that the vehicle is serviced and maintained to the required standard.
·        Ensure proper and timely recording of vehicle mileage and accurate filling of vehicle records.
·        To perform basic logistics and administrative tasks.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        Drive vehicles carefully, safety and within the required speed limit in accordance to the Uganda traffic Laws and WCH regulations.
·        Safely transport War Child personnel, guests and goods while providing convenient breaks and treating passengers with courtesy, respect and friendliness.
·        Ensure proper travel and route planning is made to accomplish tasks in a timely and cost effective manner.
·        Engage in proactive suggestions about vehicle use and safety while observing the policy of having the vehicle parked in an authorized place before 6pm.
·        Ensure all vehicle movements do not start before 6:30am unless authorized by line manager or CD.
·        Run office errands (payment of bills, shopping, dropping and picking letters/parcels etc.) as directed by the line manager and Senior officer staff;
·        Keep the vehicle in good mechanical condition, carry out daily checks and immediately report faults, scratches, accidents, etc to the line manager
·        Carry out daily checks and minor repairs including check/topup of engine oil, window wiper, radiator, air pressure of tires, brake fluid, fastening of battery terminal, oil leakage under car.
·        Ensure the vehicle is clean both inside and outside always.
·        Notify the Line manager (preferably one week in advance) of any repair or regular maintenance required to the vehicle;
·        Ensure vehicle inspection during and after service is done to ascertain complete and good standard work is done. A certificate of repairs MUST be signed off.
·        Ensures that WCH vehicles have proper documentation such as insurance, logbook, consent forms, etc.
·        Monitor the use of vehicles and fuel consumption through analysis of log books monthly.
·        Ensure that your car always has sufficient fuel at all times.
·        Ensure fuel topup at full tank every last day of the month for proper fuel tracking purposes.
·        Fill in the logbook accurately before and after every trip.
·        Keep proper records of transport of goods using way-bills and other forms according to WCH procedures.
·        Fully obey the driving laws of the country. This includes the use of seatbelts, speed limits and absence of using alcohol and/or other drugs and phone while driving.
·        Ensure all passengers use their seatbelt while in the car; Do not drive a vehicle without functioning seatbelts, valid insurances and driving permit.
·        To maintain the vehicle medical box, fire extinguisher and tool kit at all times whilst in charge of vehicle.
·        Ensure all none WCH staff using the vehicle have signed a wavier form that is kept in the vehicle at all times.
·        Ensure no third party drives WCH car unless with permission from line manager/CD.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        The ideal applicant for the War Child Holland (WCH) Driver job opportunity must attended driving school with Secondary level (O level) education.
·        MUST have a valid driving license expiring not less than 6 months from application time.
·        MUST have a DL driving class plus B,CM.
·        Over 3 years of driving experience with an INGO working with Children is preferred
