The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. UNHCR’s mandate under the Statute of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is to lead and co-ordinate action for international protection to refugees; seek permanent solutions for the problems of refugees and safeguard refugee rights and well-being. UNHCR has an additional mandate concerning issues of statelessness, as it is given a designated role under Article 11 of the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.

Job Summary:  
The Telecoms Operator will provide direct supervision and support are received from the head of the relevant functional unit. The Telecoms Operator will also refer to technical manuals and UNHCR instructions concerning telecom operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        Distribute incoming cables, messages, and other communication in accordance with established instructions.
·        Ensure that all communications handed to him/her for transmission are properly prepared and authorized and promptly transmitted.
·        Select the most efficient and economic means for the transmission of messages, taking into consideration the nature and priority of communications to be transmitted.
·        Maintain a station log where all occurrences related to the operation of the telecommunication equipment are entered.
·        Ensure that no unauthorized communications are exchanged on the network.
·        Maintain all the equipment placed under his/her responsibility in good working condition.
·        Assist new staff members in the proper operation of telecommunication equipment.
·        May perform secretarial functions, such as handling paperwork on routine matters, arranges appointment/meetings both internally and externally, screen telephone calls, type a wide variety of materials from drafts, printed text, use word processor.
·        May assist in making travel arrangements.
·        Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        The ideal candidate for the United Nations UNHCR Telecoms Operator job placement should have completed a High school diploma. Required.
·        At least four years of previous job experience relevant to the function is required.
·        Additional certificate or license in radio operation is required.
·        Knowledge of English and/or UN working language of the duty station if not English is required.
·        Sound knowledge and practice of secretarial functions is desirable

Job Summary:  The Head of Operations is responsible for managing all aspects of the COP Network in Uganda. This includes power availability, maintenance, refurbishment of all COP site-based infrastructure (towers, generators, and other components). This role is also responsible for technical standards, quality assurance, tower maintenance and structural integrity. Obtaining and verifying all site-based information, principally around energy consumption.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        Develop, communicate and Manage the Operations strategy and follow through to execution key deliverables e.g. reducing OPEX, increasing power availability
·        Effectively manage the Operations team to develop the appropriate customer solutions
·        Manage relationships with our contractors to ensure they are meeting our demands
·        To develop and manage client relationships as a point of knowledge in order to maximize American Tower opportunities with its current and potential customers
·        Work very closely with Sales Director to develop solutions to customer needs.
·        Establish team goals and develop tracking metrics to ensure that expectations for the team are met monthly and quarterly
·        Put in place Site access control and ensure this is adhered to by the team and our customers and contractors
·        Fully understand how power availability impacts our customers and continuously look for ways to improve the customer experience
·        Have a strong understanding of generators and power equipment in order to provide the right solutions to the customer
·        Management of HSE team to ensure compliance requirements are implemented and adhered to by staff, customers, and our contractors
·        Manage the structures team to ensure that there is structural tower integrity in all COP Uganda sites as per policy.
·        Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues in conjunction with Human Resources

·        Design and control of electrical systems knowledge of the Ugandan market, especially EMS and Building Management systems (BMS).
·        Project management skills.

·        Good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
·        Be self-motivated, disciplined and work under minimum supervision.
·        Experience in EMS, PLC/HMI, SCADA is added advantage.

The Water Trust aims to increase the scale of its operations and pioneer new approaches to increasing the impact and sustainability of water, sanitation, and hygiene programs.

 About Project:
Revise existing training materials and train staff on revised training messages: The Gender Consultant (GC) will audit The Water Trust's current training materials, training practices, and staff knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) through both desk review and consultation with staff. The GC will then provide technical support and recommendations to the revision of the materials (e.g., visual training aids, SOPs, etc.), and lead both a staff-wide training and a program-team training with the revised materials.

Key Deliverables
·        Template for audit of training materials, practices, and staff KSAs.
·        Audit results of training materials, practices, and staff KSAs and recommended changes.
·        Training agendas and materials for general staff and program staff gender participatory gender trainings.
·        Two-hour participatory training with all staff.
·        Two-hour participatory training with program staff on community engagement.

Anticipated Workload
·        Desk review of training materials (1 day - 8 hours)

·        Experience working with gender in water, sanitation, and hygiene programming
·        Experience in rural contexts
·        Experience working with Non-Governmental Organizations; experience working with The Water Trust
·        Knowledge of local language(s) and culture is an asset, especially Runyoro, Luo, Acholi.
