Energising Development (EnDev) is a global multi-donor partnership implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) that facilitates access to modern energy services in 25 countries worldwide. In Uganda, EnDev, under the Promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (PREEEP) cooperates closely with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD). EnDev Uganda facilitates access to modern energy services through market development with the private sector for improved cook stoves (ICS) and solar PV products. In its Biomass 2 programme component, EnDev Uganda supports Ugandan ICS companies to increase their production capacity through use of efficient production techniques, increase product and service quality as well as competitiveness and marketability, and expand distribution outreach and ICS awareness through establishment of sales outlets across Uganda with dedicated sales teams. EnDev provides this strategic support largely through a results-based business development framework. In order to further implement its ICS market development activities and to increase access to ICS for households, SMEs and social institutions, EnDev Uganda is looking for a skilled and experienced Clean Energy Expert to support EnDev Uganda’s ICS partners in implementing their energy access projects.

Job Summary:  The Clean Cooking Energy Expert is responsible for;
·         Support to the design, successful implementation and monitoring of EnDev Uganda ICS project activities with partner companies and NGOs.
·         Regular engagement and coordination with MEMD, key energy sector institutions and EnDev Uganda implementing partners.
·         Assisting the supervisor in his management and technical tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
ICS Market Development
·         Provision of technical expertise in distribution and marketing operations of EnDev Uganda’s implementing partners to increase their outreach for ICS sold to households, SMEs and social institutions across Uganda.
·         Support input into the strategic development of the EnDev Uganda ICS market-based approach for energy access through preparation of concepts, identifying key partners, etc.
·         Management and implementation of contracts with EnDev partner companies, as well as consultancies, including undertaking regular sales monitoring and verification exercises
·         Conducting and coordination of regular ICS production site and user/agent field visits to assess project progress and evaluate interventions by EnDev Uganda’s implementing partners
·         Effective communication and strategic engagement with EnDev Uganda’s partners and key energy stakeholders through organization and facilitation of relevant meetings/workshops, trainings, presentations, exhibitions, field research etc.
·         Coordination and implementation of ICS promotional and marketing activities e.g. sales outlet/community/user activations, branding of relevant company sites, etc.
·         Any other duties assigned and agreed to by GIZ – EnDev.
Knowledge Management and M&E
·         Regularly updates the EnDev Head of Project and the Head of the Biomass 2 Component on the progress of ongoing and planned ICS related activities.
·         Updates the team on developments within the Ugandan ICS market and important sector trends, as well as assists partners in reporting activities.
·         Compiles up-to-date project activity information and prepares documents addressing lessons learnt, project factsheets with an overview of intervention areas, and relevant presentations etc.
Other duties/additional tasks
·         Performs other duties and tasks at the request by the Head of Country Project.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·         The ideal candidate must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant area such as renewable energy, environmental management, business or social administration or other related fields.
·         Relevant training and postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage.
·         At least five years of professional working experience in the energy sector, including at least 2 years of active engagement with the private sector
·         Comprehensive understanding of the energy sector and clean cooking energy sub-sector in Uganda and associated trends
·         Experienced in the management and/or operation of sales/distribution and marketing channels for ICS and other clean energy products and services
·         Effective in communication related tasks, e.g. presentations, organization and facilitation of meetings, reporting, etc.
·         Experience in assessment and evaluation of ICS production techniques, stove usability and end-user feedback
·         Experiences in working independently and result oriented
·         Experience in project, consultant and stakeholder coordination.
·         Ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and precise manner.
·         Strong organisational and analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
·         Good working knowledge of ICT (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office databases).
·         High degree of self-motivation and team spirit in multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary team
·         Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English language.
·         Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Receive and book in visitors to the site, issue them with the appropriate ID passes, directing them to the correct destination and contact the relevant host. Improve security awareness by directing people towards sources of advice or information.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, vendors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises paying close attention to security screening process.
  • Monitor the CCTV system, access control system, fire alarm system and panic alarm system. Respond immediately to intruder/panic/fire alarms upon activation during working hours. Ensure that fire alarm testing takes place and is recorded; report any faults to your supervisor.
  • Move throughout all areas, circulating among visitors, patrons, or employees to visually monitor and take corrective action when needed in order to preserve order and protect property.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Document all incidents in the daily occurrence book.
  • Perform reception duties as required, such as work processing, answering phones and managing visitor car parking. Prioritize tasks and respond to ad hoc requests.
  • Attend and manage any accident / incident involving any member of staff or visitors.
  • Investigate security concerns and recommend course of action to your supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a diploma in social administration or related field and have a background in security services.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Can develop and build good client & customer relationships
  • Can prioritize tasks and to respond to a variety of needs and work pressures created by colleagues and members of the public including rapid response to emergencies.
  • Has good knowledge of health and safety and Adheres to BLL health and safety regulations.

Job Summary:   The Project Officer Environment & natural Resources is in charge of the implementation of the Environment & natural resources components of the LWF multi-sectoral UNHCR Funded emergency project in Kyangwali. She/he will provide direct supervision and facilitate implementation of the budgetary control, M & E and reports. In addition to support in Protection and management of the natural resources through establishment of woodlots and creation of tree nurseries

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Facilitating development of groups on making of energy saving stoves and briquettes ICWs to facilitate community-wide sensitizations on environmental protection/natural resource management on radio and strengthen community structures (CERPs) Implement and manage appropriate project monitoring and evaluation framework
  • Prepare high quality reports, both narrative and quantitative information and reporting on relevant indicators and outcomes.
  • Ensure that all reports are delivered according to high quality standards and are always submitted on time as per project agreement induction, training.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Project Officer Environment & natural Resources career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural resources/ Water resources management, Agriculture, Forestry, or related fields.
  • Post-graduate diploma in project planning & management is desirable.
