Job Summary: The Registered Midwife will be responsible for the promotion and maintenance of the highest standards of professional women and infant care to meet the needs of patients and their families.  The Midwife will ensure that she/he complies with best practices and maintains a safe environment.  She/he will treat patients with dignity and ensure confidentiality at all times. The Midwife understands the operations of the Hospital beyond the midwife function and influences the overall organization to ensure superior operations and patient outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides comprehensive professional obstetric, gynecological and women’s health care to patients including identifying high-risk cases and providing corrective action, advice and/or referral
  • Works closely with multidisciplinary providers to ensure that the patient is getting the best in comprehensive women and infant health care
  • Participates in all activities necessary to implement the multidisciplinary team approach to the care of women and infants (including nutritional counseling, breastfeeding support, health education, family planning and other counseling as required under the circumstances, monitoring and appropriate reporting of the health condition of women and infant patients, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of Hospital operations within the midwife function, quality assurance, safe environment and infection control standards
  • Assists in expanding and enhancing women and infant health services provided at the Hospital by participating in outreach, community screenings and conducting health education sessions
  • Ability to maintain and build trust, protect and preserve confidential information
  • Responsible for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior service to patients
  • High competency in area of practice with commitment to excellence in the practice of midwifery
  • Contributes to Hospital institutional knowledge by staying current on issues in the health care field and sharing knowledge as required with other staff
  • Performs administrative duties as required such as registration of birth notifications, compile reproductive/child health data and other required reports production of documents, case management, records maintenance and patient surveys to maintain quality assurance.
  • Maintains personal contact with patients, take note of their complaints, carry out corrective measures and escalate for further action as necessary
  • Manages patients with confidentiality and adherence to professional code of conduct, hospital policies and procedures and best practices in health care
  • Requisitions and maintains accurate accounts for medical supplies


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma from an accredited School of Midwifery.
  • Three years of midwifery experience in a hospital.
  • Proficiency in computer packages like Microsoft excel, word and other office products.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, customer service, interpersonal skills and respect for and receptivity to other cultures.
  • Proof of registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council required.

Job Summary: The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing and compounding medication, counseling patients on medication and health subjects; interpreting prescriptions, managing patient drug therapy for complications, and performing drug utilization. He/she collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners to provide safe, high quality, and cost-effective drug treatment. Additionally, the Pharmacist manages all aspects of medication ordering and inventory.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring medicinal products are stored appropriately and securely to ensure freshness and potency and proper dispensing.
  • Ensuring medication reaches the patient in the correct form and dose – this may include tablets, capsules, ointments, injections, inhalers and creams.
  • Being responsible for the accurate dispensing and timely distribution of drugs and medicines for outpatients.
  • Supervising and checking the work of pharmacy technicians and assistants.
  • Responding to medication-related queries from within the facility and the general public.
  • Keeping up to date with, and contributing to, research and development, often in collaboration with medical staff and colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Writing guidelines for drug use within the facility, preparing bulletins and implementing facility regulations.
  • Providing information to individual wards on budgets and expenditure on drugs.
  • Working closely with physicians, nurses and other fellow health care professionals to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and economic drug treatment.
  • Counseling patients on the effects, dosage and route of administration of their drug treatments, particularly those who require complex drug therapy.
  • Monitoring every stage of medication treatment to improve all aspects of delivery and reporting patient side effects.
  • Communicating effectively with patients and their relatives, physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, other healthcare practitioners, directors and other hospital administration staff, etc.
  • Preparing and quality-checking sterile medications under special conditions (e.g. Intravenous medications for those unable to take food, anti-cancer medications, eye drops, etc.).
  • Assisting with sourcing and procuring medications and ordering procedures to ensure adequate inventory and options for the conditions treated at the hospital.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a BS, MS, or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution and a current pharmacist license
  • Three to five years of previous facility pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Practice residency or equivalent facility experience.
  • Possesses outstanding leadership, communication, listening and interpersonal skills, necessary to quickly establish credibility and rapport with a broad set of constituencies and motivate others;  
  • Ability to act as an effective agent for change, recognizes the need for change and adapts and inspires others to adapt;
  • Ability to address both broad and strategic issues and the management of day-to-day operations;
  • Ability to innovate, encourage creative thinking and imaginative solutions to issues or problems;

Job Summary:  The Regional Manager will provide direct supervision and support to field based branch teams. You will have extensive experience in leading and driving the performance of large teams. Foremost, you will be a skilled coach, helping to solve complex field based problems in a timely fashion. You will have demonstrated experience at working closely with community health workers or similar community based structures. You are an expert communicator – able to bridge gaps between your team members across Uganda and the HQ in Kampala. The Regional Manager will be field based, with the primary work location being a Living Goods branch or a District Health Office in the region the position supervises. You will spend approximately 75% of your time in the field and 25% of time at HQ in Kampala.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Planning and Analysis
  • Support branch teams efficiently plan their monthly activities
  • Based on branch performance, support branch teams for effectively prioritize their time to concentrate efforts on most urgent areas of improvement
  • Monitor branch KPIs using dashboard and other tools. Support branch teams overcome challenges
  • Proactively monitor and resolve potential risks at branch e.g. lack of compliance against LG policy, low stock of items etc.
Performance Management
  • Provide leadership to the branch managers building a high efficient and effective team.
  • Provide supportive supervision to branch teams in your region both face to face and remotely
  • Provide coaching to Senior Branch Managers and Community Health Manager to improve individual and team performance.
  • Support professional development of branch team members
  • As required support the new Branch Management (Community Health Managers/Supervisors) Trainees as they are undergoing training in your region
  • Visit the field with all branch team members and observe interactions between Community Health Workers, clients and branch teams. Provide feedback using performance management tools
  • Pro-actively work with branch teams to meet key KPIs through brainstorming problems, identifying areas for improvement, bringing new ideas for testing to the innovations committee
Compliance and Quality Improvement
  • Ensure branches are compliant with all LG policies and procedures
  • Support the management of credit, consignment and other finance processes
  • Support branch team members in inventory management including shrink remedial plans
  • Support branch teams in the development and implementation of quality improvement action plans
Communications and linkage with other departments
  • Champion changes and new policies and build understanding within the region
  • Cascade messages from HQ to field teams accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Represent the region at HQ meetings, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed
  • Liaise effectively between branch teams and relevant HQ based teams to ensure efficient operations


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The ideal candidate for the Living Goods Regional Manager job placement should hold a Clinical or public health degree. Masters degree preferred
  • Certificate in coaching preferred
  • Track record of developing field based teams including managing teams of 15+
  • Results oriented and strong track record of driving KPIs qualitative
  • Unimpeachable integrity
  • Ability to analyze and use data to inform decision-making
  • Social enterprise experience a plus
