Overview of the Position
Now that awamo has grown to this size, we want to harness the power of the data in the platform. To do that, we need additional ETL logic and tools in place to be able to actually make use of the data in a central data warehouse. Once we have that, we can start applying analytics to that data to further improve awamo’s products and services.

Job Summary:   The crucial part of your role will be to coordinate and supervise all data-relevant development and maintenance processes in the company from a technical perspective. You are the bridge between business and IT which translates the business requirements into feasible technical solutions, and helps implementing the solutions hands-on regarding the data part.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Perform root cause analysis on internal and external data processing answers to specific business questions as well as identify opportunities for improvement.
·         Manage, maintain and evolve awamo’s product data import ETL pipelines.
·         Continually discover new opportunities and techniques for data acquisition
·         Develop, manage and maintain awamo’s data warehouse
·         Develop data set processes for data modeling (predictive and prescriptive)
·         Ensure data integrity through contribution to the system development process
·         Contribute to backend developer schema and data structure design discussions to ensure data utilization for future business requirements is catered for.
·         Develop and maintain automated data sanitization processes.
·         Develop reporting automation, reminders and data-based event triggers.
·         Maintain UpToDate schema definitions for all data stores.
·         Continue to research and employ smarter more efficient ways for both data ingestions, aggregation and analytic visualization.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·         The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelors’ degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Statistics, or any other related field – equivalent work experience will be considered as well.
·         Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
·         Good Git knowledge.
Work experience
·         Min. 3 years working experience
·         Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
·         Experience with API interactions coupled with JSON and XML data processing.
·          Strong analytic skills related to working with both structured and unstructured data sets.
·         Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
·         Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and data modeling.
·         Experience designing and implementing ETL strategies
·         Experience with cloud computing.
·         Strong knowledge of Python and the habit of writing automated testing (unit, integration, etc

CRS has worked in Uganda since 1965, initially providing emergency assistance to Sudanese refugees living in the north. Over the years, CRS has expanded its programming to also address development needs in western, central and eastern Uganda. CRS’ projects in Uganda currently include agriculture, health, microfinance, peace building and youth. CRS Uganda implements its programs through partnerships with local organizations, including the Catholic Church, other faith-based organizations and community entities for maximum impact and sustainability.

CRS is leading a consortium of 7 implementing and technical partners to run a five-year USAID/FFP funded $35 million program called Nuyok to build resilience to shocks, enhance livelihoods and improve food security and nutrition for vulnerable rural families in three districts of Karamoja – Abim, Nakapiripirit, Nabilatuk and Napak – which are home to 406,880 people living in an estimated 58,126 households. Nuyok seeks to strengthen governance and gender equity, community capacity to manage shocks and stresses, traditional and diversified livelihood opportunities and nutrition and health (including improved water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)) of pregnant and lactating women (PLW), adolescent girls and children under two years of age (CU2). At the end of the program, sustainable results will include empowered, resilient, healthy families; responsive, inclusive governance; and a vibrant private sector that engages smallholders at every level.

Job Summary:
You will provide service in the day-to-day maintenance of the MEAL systems database for the Nuyok project and will support the project team and partners in its relevant Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) needs in support of the Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) mission to serve the poor and vulnerable.
Your service and technical skills will contribute to improving the project impact.
You will provide service in the day-to-day maintenance delivery of responsive, effective and efficient project administrative activities in support of the Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) mission to serve the poor and vulnerable. You will provide consistent and high-quality service and contribute to the proper stewardship of project resources to help ensure operational effectiveness in support of high-quality programming.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Maintain and help in the design and development of the Nuyok database. Troubleshoot and communicate issues to contribute to ensuring optimal performance.
·         Provide technical support to requests from the Nuyok staff team in relation to the MEAL systems database and ICT4D hardware, software and associated peripherals;
·         Log support requests and document their outcome to facilitate the resolution of common queries;
·         Proactively provide information to the teams on the progress of outstanding support enquiries;
·         Monitor the implementation processes to ensure consistent uptake and utilization of the ICT4D system across sectors;
·         Oversee and support the work of enumerators, data entry clerks, and interns (when needed).

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education and Experience
·         The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in statistics, computer science, software engineering, information management or a related field;
·          Minimum of two years’ experience in database management, ideally with an international NGO;
·         Experience in creating data visualization dashboards (e.g. Reporting services, Access, Zoho Reports, Dundas Dashboards, PowerBI etc.);
·         Proficiency in database management packages (e.g. Microsoft Access and SQL Server);
·         Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required.
Personal Skills
·         Strong analytical skills with focus on detail
·          Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
·          Good technical writing skills
·          Presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring, and coaching skills
·         Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented

Required/Desired Language:
