Senior Food Assistance Information and Reporting Officer Non-profit Jobs - World Vision International

Job Summary:   The Senior Food Assistance Information and Reporting Officer will provide overall management supervision of Commodity Tracking System in the country. Ensure that all food and non-food aid projects have adequate capacity to track and account for all the food and non-food items received from various donors from the point of receipt to the final beneficiary using CTS system. The incumbent will ensure compliance with WV Uganda, FPMG and Donor (USAD/FFP, WFP, EC/ECHO etc) requirement regarding accounting and reporting for all donations given to WV Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Overall operation management of CTS/LMMS and any database management System in all districts implementing food aid and non-food items distribution projects.
  • Organize capacity building session for FAIROs and field staff (distribution staff) on the operation of the CTS/LMMS and other computer based programs (LMMS).
  • Supervise the FAIROs in the process of data entry and generation of individual district reports. Provide technical backstopping for districts staff in the process of implementing CTS/LMMS.
  • Supervise the general management of the beneficiary database in close coordination with the Field team. Ensure data integrity and security.
  • Receive CTS data replication/data consolidation from the districts and use it to generate WV Uganda consolidated accurate reports (CSR, RSR, LSR, Donor Receipts, and Returns etc.).
  • Submit consolidated reports to Commodity Manager for review and submission to FPMG and Donors before the 7th of every month.
  • Collect and submit CTS/LMMS system backups from all FAIROs by 10th every month.
  • Collect and archive all CTS/LMMS report and backups (including distribution list) files according to the agreed filling system.
  • Design appropriate filling system that will ensure easy storage and retrieval of files and documents from the archive.
  • Supervise Monthly uploading of all LMMS backups in the FTP site by 10th of every month.
  • Generate and submit accurate CSS, and follow up with NO to ensure its signed and posted in the FGDB on time.
  • Supervise the generation of food distribution invoices from all the districts of operation, work with the respective districts staff (Commodity Officers and FAIRO) to ensure that invoices have been processed as per agreed timelines.
  • Coordinate with field and M&E teams in the supervision of registration and distribution of LMMS ration cards to different categories of project beneficiaries and ensure all compliance issues are handled.
  • Supervise the maintenance and management of the LMMS equipment in all the districts of operation
  • Attend 15% of distribution every cycle to ensure compliance and commodity standard are in practice.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the World Vision Senior Food Assistance Information and Reporting Officer job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology I.T, Computer Science, Accounting or Statistics. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Three years’ working experience in IT or 2 year working experience with a NGO or UN agency in Commodities Tracking /Accounting.
  • Working experience in port operations, clearing and forwarding, dispatch and logistics planning, warehousing and storekeeping. Good command of oral and written English.
  • Computer literacy is an added advantage. Strong analytical skills. Knowledge of major donor regulations pertaining to commodities accountability and reporting.

Job Summary: The Social Media Associate will bridge existing gaps and will produce, maintain and promote external content and perform as a lead for social media initiatives. This will help maintain and further enhance the current momentum of the Uganda operation including the implementation of the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) on social media platforms, drive additional footfall to the UNHCR global and Africa website, expand outreach, awareness and online advocacy campaigns in the region and beyond, in addition to achieving wider engagement with UNHCR partners. The incumbent will also help strengthen coordination and editorial planning across the Unit, support advocacy, awareness-raising and digital fundraising efforts as well as strengthening analytics to inform the social media strategies and work-plans.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide support to the Global digital platforms to accelerate the creation and update of content from Uganda
  • Process urgent news pieces, social media content, video scripts and other types of documents for immediate publishing to achieve wider engagement with UNHCR partners and supporters.
  • Regularly monitor public conversations and screen the audience sentiment on social media platforms in an effort to carry out a community management plan to raise awareness about UNHCR work and avert potentially damaging comments about the organization
  • Liaise with relevant web and social media teams across Africa and HQ, including video and photo units, for the latest content
  • Manage the official social media accounts (create/post/monitor content) in collaboration with Communication colleagues in Uganda, regional and at HQs
  • Coordinate and facilitate content production among members of the Global Website Unit to avoid loss of data and prevent any outdated publishing
  • Carry out regular media monitoring of press coverage related to the Uganda operation on social platforms
  • Ensure that the office is kept informed of local developments which may have a political or operational impact on the office activities
  • Actively participate in events planning and media coverage
  • Serve as a functional back-up for the PI/Communications team.

Key Performance Indicators: 
  • Support is provided to UNHCR Country Office Kampala in terms of creating of content that includes production of videos, quality photography, graphic designing, story writing; support communication initiatives and enhance visibility of UNHCR Uganda operation on social media platforms.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations UNHCR Social Media Associate job vacancy should have completed High School with post-secondary training in Social Science, Journalism, Communication, Translation, Humanitarian or related fields
  • At least six years of previous relevant job experience

National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) and Makerere University, Department of Social Work and Social Administration are conducting a research on “Living Conditions of Persons with Disabilities in Uganda”. Overall, the project is coordinated by SINTEF, a Norwegian agency with funding from Atlas Alliance/NORAD and the work will be done in accordance with the SINTEF project documents.

Job Summary:  The Research Assistants will support the data collection exercise scheduled to take place in early 2019. The research Assistant will report to Supervisors for the Living conditions study

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Participate in a training on the study protocol, data collection and ethical procedures
·         Participate in pilot study
·         Travel to selected study enumeration areas for the entire study data collection duration
·         Identify potential households , assess eligibility and recruit household members
·         Conduct informed consent processes with potential participants according to the study procedures
·         Develop interview schedules; arrange and conduct interviews in accordance with pre-determined interview guidelines, data collection procedures, tools and documentation standards
·         As appropriate to the specified position, code and verify data in accordance with the study data management standard operating procedures (SOPs), and enter data into the data collection electronic tools
·         Ensure that data collected are accurate, complete, properly handled and stored in accordance with study SOPs and confidentiality stipulations
·         After data collection, a RA should write a brief report on the field exercise where he/she was deployed and submit to the immediate supervisor
·         Take responsibility of all the research tools and equipment entrusted to him/her during the data collection
·         Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·         The Research Assistant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
·         Prior experience in research methods
·         Previous experience in data collection
·         Knowledge of disability issues is an added advantage
