Communications Assistant Job Careers - HMH-RAINBOW Ltd

About US:
HMH-RAINBOW Ltd is an integrated business consisting of a feed mill, broiler farms and a chicken processing facility located in Semuto, about 50kms outside of Kampala City. We are currently seeking to recruit Sales Executives to work in Kuku Shops in various towns in Uganda.
Sales Executives will be responsible for helping the sales team to develop and implement business plans that increase sales and bring in potential new clients within the allocated Kuku Shop.

Job Summary:  The Communications Assistant will implement diverse projects in brand, marketing and advertising to increase visibility of and affinity for the Yo Kuku!, Enkoko and Kuku Feeds brands within the HMH-Rainbow portfolio. Although the position is based in Kampala, the candidate may be required to make upcountry travel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Internal Communications
  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with communications manager
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organisation
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
  • Ensure all organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine or regular email bulletin. You may also be required to work on the layout of content
  • Managing internal events and seminars.
  • Work with sales and production staff members to build a meaningful relationship with customers
Digital Media
  • Assist in the general maintenance of company websites and social media pages
  • Monitor platforms and manage community moderation (answering comments, responding to messages and posting content) on social media platforms
  • Coordinate with the Sales and Marketing departments to plug in communications for activities such as sponsored events and sales offers
  • Assist in the development of information and marketing materials for digital, PR and traditional media that target HMH-Rainbow’s various stakeholders
  • Work closely with communications manager to generate bi-monthly, quarterly and annual reports detailing online activities
  • Assist in the development and enhancement        of branding for new marketing products
  • Ensuring all customer queries and feedback         online, in person and at the shops, are responded to within shortest time possible and in a positive manner to preserve the HMH-Rainbow
  • Document engagement activities and work           with the Communications Department in engaging with social media and other communication channels
  • Attend planning and department meetings            where necessary and all company events ensuring proper coverage of the events
  • Any other duty allocated from time to time including assistance with planning for activations, development of brand and advertising material for traditional media and retail visual development.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications/Journalism, Economics/Business Administration, Business Information Technology with at least an option/experience in Social Media, Digital Marketing Experience
  • Three years of experience working in digital or general communications
  • Prior experience in working with the Private sector and or FMCG
  • Knowledge of digital and intranet technology used for internal communications like SharePoint
  • Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills, including ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective communication, and to generate trust and confidence among staff, at all levels including senior management
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and present it clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work proactively, prioritise and manage individual workload
  • Skill in photography and design is an added advantage

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Managing all ICT activities in support to and in close collaboration with the field responsible persons in Kasese, Arua, Yumbe and additional sites as needed; is the primary responsible for all ICT activities in the Kampala office
  • Identify and implement information management practices to enhance the mission system's effectiveness and reliability
  • Supervising, implementing and monitoring security management protocols
  • Managing inventory, warranties and IT usage of the Mission including carrying out of corrective/preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring the proper documentation, filing and the compilation of statistical data on ICT (number of repairs, monitoring and abuse of internet and telephone use, general state of computer parts, etc.) and drafting a quarterly report on activities
  • Providing direct support to new users and relevant personnel dealing with information systems and managing user access
  • Installing, maintaining and monitoring the ICT systems and equipment in the mission
  • MEMO (inventory/maintenance tool) mission focal point
  • Monitor / implement and update the use of radio communication in the mission and also coordinate with Ugandan Communications Commissions (UCC)


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Information Systems Specialist must hold a Higher Diploma in IT Experience:
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in IT
  • Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs, and working experience in developing countries Knowledge:
  • Expertise in operating systems (XP-Pro, W7) and desktop applications (MS Office 2003/2007/2010)
  • Good knowledge of computer parts and maintenance, networks and their protocols, main email systems (Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Lotus), IT Security Tools (Anti-virus, Firewall, Anti-spyware, back-ups)
  • Understanding of telecommunication systems and educational tools
  • Radio communication Skills (HF and VHF)

Job Summary:   The IT Security Officer will implement security policies, principles, and standards. He/she works with the rest of the ICT Team to select and deploy technical controls to meet specific security requirements, and implements processes and standards to ensure that security configurations are maintained.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Collaborate on IT process initiatives to ensure that security solutions are delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Work with infrastructure team members to identify, select, and implement technical controls.
  • Assist IT staff in the resolution of reported security incidents.
  • Monitor daily or weekly reports and security logs for unusual events.
  • Assist in the development of security processes and procedures and support service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure that security controls are managed and maintained.
  • Research, evaluate, recommend and plan the implementation of new or updated information security technologies.
  • Ensure that all new implementations of ICT solutions are compliant with the organization’s security requirements; ensuring best practice is always followed.
  • Monitor and ensure that appropriate levels of security exist in the following: PC’s, client server, LAN, WAN, broadband networks, web environments, firewalls, IP telephony, disaster recovery and applications, etc.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data at rest or while in transit between end point devices, servers and other systems including any data at rest on hosted, third party systems where ICT have been involved.
  • Work with the ICT team to ensure that Issues identified during vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits are resolved.
  • Review logs generated from information-security-related hardware and software and send summaries to the supervisor for review


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
