Job Summary:  The Manager Information Technology will provide IT support to the operations and acting as a liaison with client systems staff to implement client processes and systems that will assist in the development of operational improvements for the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare, Plan and budget for the unit and the computer systems expenditures in line with the UPL Business Strategy.
  • Provide support to the team through training, mentoring, capacity building to ensure the effective performance.
  • Contribute to income generating and sustainability initiative of UPL
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for electronic data processing (EDP) and computer systems operations development across the entire organization.

  • Monitor and make a report on the performance and status of the IT systems to the IT Coordinator and the Management.
  • Supervise, motivate, appraise and build staff capacity in the IT department in line with the organizational needs and Human Resource policies, and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Professional certification in MSCE/CISA/CCNA is a MUST
  • Eight years relevant working experience in a related field of which five (05) years at a supervisory level from a reputable organization.

About RSCE:
The Regional Service Centre Steering Committee is the decision-making body for RSCE, in compliance with General Assembly resolutions, United Nations Secretariat rules and regulations, strategic guidance from United Nations Headquarters and oversight bodies. The Steering Committee consults with the Global Field Support Strategy Implementation Coordination Team, as required.

The Regional Service Centre, as approved by the Member States, is owned, managed and staffed by the regional missions it serves. This framework reinforces the existing missions’ chain of command structures and lines of authority in a manner that does not create an additional layer between Headquarters and the regional missions. It also ensures that staffing for RSC.

Job Summary:  The Programme Management Officer will support the strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as reporting of programmes, projects operations and other activities of the Centre.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Within delegated authority, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Actively participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
  • Works closely with programme managers in the Centre’s pillars and sections for the continued evaluation of various programmes and projects within the Centre and provide substantive information on the same.
  • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Provides support in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies.
  • Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions, prepares data visualizations.
  • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, proposals, dashboards, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
  • Actively participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).
  • Performs any other duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations Regional Service Centre at Entebbe (RSCE) Programme Management Officer job placement should hold an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, social sciences, information management or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in the above fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A PMP Qualification and or PRINCE2® Foundation or Practitioner certificate is desirable.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, programme design, programme coordination, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, capacity building or related area is required.
  • Previous exposure and experience in applying Project management principals or PRINCE2 methodology in monitoring, reporting and implementation is desirable.
  • Experience of working on multi-country projects/programmes, particularly in Africa, is desirable.
  • Prior experience of working in UN agencies and funds, or similar international organizations with multiple field operations, shared services, or customer service centre is desirable.
  • Languages: fluency in English is required and working knowledge of French is desirable

Job Summary:   The IT Operations Assistant will ensure that the overall setup of IT systems and equipment at Food Distribution Points (FDP) during the pilot and food/cash distribution cycles are functional and that any technical issues are resolved as soon as possible.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Maintain inventory of material and/or database of information, such as, computer related equipment, communications equipment, training material, etc;
  • Maintain logs or archives of information, such as computer related logs, trouble tickets, directories, registries, data warehouses, reports, etc;
  • Assist in the deployment/dissemination of standard material, such as, computer hardware and/or software, applications, programs, directories, telephony, database content, training material, etc;
  • Assist in the maintenance of systems and equipment by carrying out routine tasks, such as backing up data, monitoring network and systems, servers and peripherals, running systems diagnostics, patch management and system optimization, removing viruses and bad data, ensuring that the generators are regularly serviced;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards of deployed software on field staff computers
  • Administer user access to systems and databases, monitor system and application usage;
  • Assist in resolution of IT equipment, telecommunications and power problems at the field office by responding to queries, identifying and troubleshooting issues and where necessary forwarding unresolved issues to the appropriate person;
  • Plan and supervise monthly food and cash distributions ensuring that appropriate IT systems and personnel are deployed to support the transfers;
  • Maintain electronic documents, statistical databases and IT systems;
  • Provide data analytics expertise, help colleagues to extract, analyze and report on information from various data sources in the field offices;
  • Assist in training and support of users of technology and systems, such as beneficiary biometric verification, audio/videoconferences, meetings, databases, registries, LAN and WAN networks, etc;
Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme (WFP) IT Operations Assistant job placement should hold a first university degree obtained from a recognised education institution in Information Technology or Computer Science or any IT related field;
  • At least three years of experience supporting IT applications, LANs and WANs isrequired
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.
