Job Summary:  The Products Manager Liabilities will manage the local Barclays Product range for Retail customers, ensuring the business remains competitive while achieving its stated income targets. The incumbent will recommend and implement new product developments and enhancements to the existing product set. The incumbent will understand Barclays competitive position for each product category (e.g. Assets; Liabilities) and sector of the market to make recommendations in respect of local pricing and local market potential. The jobholder will act as the principal point of contact on product issues for local sales and marketing teams

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Business Direction  50%:
                     The role holder will have principal responsibility for ensuring income targets are met for Retail products.  This will be achieved by establishing and implementing the local product pricing strategy and identifying opportunities for new product developments and enhancements in line with the Retail Strategy.
                     In accordance with their income responsibility, the role holder will participate actively in local ALCO meetings, advising on the most appropriate interest rate strategy for each product, covering balance sheet and income impacts. The product manager will also contribute ideas for alternative product strategies to manage the Asset & Liability book
                     Continuously review customer segmentation basis and recommend suitable product activity to target and sustain viable segments in line with Retail Strategy.
                     Monitor and provide feedback to centre on local competitor product activity, including pricing
                     Undertake product legal and regulatory assessment as required
                     Research and propose suggestions for new products and product enhancements to Centre
                     Provide and analyse product income data for Local and Centre management information
                     Co-ordinate production of a uniform Tariff for Retail customers, which is easily understood by customers and staff and easy to administer.
Business Management  30%:
                     Manage the process for interest rate changes in line with Central guidelines and governance
                     Monitor adherence to agreed product pricing strategy, rectifying errors where identified
                     Work with Retail Sales teams to ensure appropriate product sales processes are in place
                     Provide business input for implementation of new products by:
                     Engaging relevant stakeholders
                     Building a business case
                     Managing the development process where required
                     Completing all local product testing
                     Building a detailed local implementation plan
                     Closely monitoring local implementation
                     Give necessary notices to local government/regulators and public of product and price changes
                     Liaise with Local Operations Centres, regularly reviewing all operational standards for product profitability, and identifying skills gaps.
                     Review and feedback into customer satisfaction surveys, responding to customer product complaints.
                     Liaise with People Development and Sales Management functions to design and deliver appropriate training, and give input into sales strategies.

                     Provide clear direction of the Barclays Africa business objectives by translating business performance objectives and measures into clear, concise communication

About Us:
The Uganda Energy Credit Capitalisation Company (UECCC) is in place to facilitate investments in Uganda’s high potential renewable energy sector. UECCC’s mandate is to provide a reliable framework for pooling resources from Government, Investors and Development Partners and to channel the same to viable renewable energy projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
UECCC provides a menu of Credit Support Instruments, including Partial Risk Guarantees and Lines Of Credit, to Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) to facilitate provision of credit by the PFIs to Renewable Energy Service Providers/ Projects and End Users. The key outputs of the Transaction Execution Specialists shall include, but not limited to, the following:
                     Originate credit support transactions in line with the Company’s financing policies and guidelines;
                     Actively build a pipeline of Credit Support Transactions and manage the Company’s existing portfolio of credit support facilities with Participating Financial Institutions; .
                     Prepare initial reviews of the proposed credit support applications, collect detailed appraisal documentation and information as necessary for the preparation of Credit Support transaction reports;
                     Manage the entire Credit cycle including but not limited to following up on Company issuance of the indicative terms and conditions for facilities to be extended and eventual acceptance of indicative terms by the beneficiaries; Follow up on completion of securities and fulfilment of all approved preconditions to disbursement;
                     Initiate disbursements of approved and cleared transactions under an allocated portfolio;
                     Manage a portfolio of Company investments and monitor until full recovery; and
                     Monitor developments in the Energy Sector and participate in stakeholder and business groups.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
                     The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Science related field;
                     A Master’s Degree or a relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage;
                     At least 5 years work experience in a similar role with a reputable financial institution; and
                     Experience working with energy sector clients will be an advantage.
                     The ideal candidate must have a proven track record as Credit or Loan Officer/Manager in a reputable financial institution with hands on experience with lending procedures and products.
                     He/She should have strong analytical skills, great interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer services skills and very good organizational and time management skills.
