Job Summary:  The Field Engineer will act as the key interface between BHGE and the client at the job site and you represent BHGE both technically and professionally to ensure that equipment is installed, maintained and started properly, aiming at Customers’ satisfaction through reliability and proactive support.

During the program you will be developing basic oilfield knowledge working under the supervision of an experienced Field Engineer. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Working as a crew member deploying BHGE tools and services, including direct liaison with customers’ representatives and BHGE shore-based Operations Managers
  • Participating in finding solutions to complex technical problems through direct, hands-on work
  • Preparing tools and equipment prior to outbound shipment to the well site
  • Receiving inbound equipment and correctly documenting inventory
  • Providing direct support for tenders including data analysis and cost estimates
  • Supporting invoicing activities to ensure that revenue is secured in the required timeframes
  • Actively engaging in job shadowing opportunities with Sales Managers, Operations Managers and Engineering Managers to understand their activities as the basis of developing business acumen and a holistic understanding of BHGE activities. Completing all training assignments to the required standards.
  • Rigorously apply Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards in all situations using BHGE systems and procedures in service of maintaining and further developing the safety culture


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a BS or MS degree in Engineering, Mechanics and or Applied Sciences
  • Maximum 3 years post Bachelor’s or Master’s degree experience
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Geographically mobile (locations vary)
  • Legal right to work in the country in which you have applied without company sponsorship or time restriction

Job Summary:  The Construction Officer’s primary responsibility is to coordinate and supervise infrastructure improvement in schools and health facilities in Kyangwali refugee Settlement, liaise with District and partners in the Shelter Working Groups and provide construction expertise and guidance to other CARE staff, CARE contractors and Community Based Facilitators in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. The Construction Officer is responsible for ensuring technical quality of the constructions at field level. S/he will be responsible for providing technical advice, monitoring and supervision for contractors during, and after constructions. S/he will be supervising and directly working with the contractors, other CARE staff and humanitarian agencies at settlement level to ensure that the objectives of the project are achieved. S/he will work together with the district and other agencies teams to ensure that project activities at field level are implemented in the most effective and efficient way.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
 Provide technical assistance in the construction of classrooms and health facility structures
  • Interpret building plans and supervise the construction of the housing projects, as per specifications and schedules.
  • In charge of preparing work plans, materials schedules, activity schedules and other relevant documentation in a timely manner, for proper planning and execution of projects.
  • Supervise and evaluate works of pieceworkers/sub - contractors. (this assumes in-house projects)
  • Compile and prepare monthly project progress reports, weekly project briefs and cost capture reports.
  • Measure and evaluate works done and prepare payment certificates.
  • Evaluate the quality of materials supplied to project sites and manage their usage.
  • Ensure a clean, safe and reliable work environment at project sites - with the target of zero incidences and accidents.
  • Address technical issues / monitor amendments to the constructions when requested to the contractors, in order to meet the minimum humanitarian standards for construction quality and safety;
  • Ensure construction inspection and validation of works is regularly carried out and duly documented by using: a CUG checklist for safe and appropriate construction (quality control checklist); and a handover/completion of works certificate;
  • Identify key issues with labour and school and health facility authorities, and solve them on the spot when possible; when not possible report to the Shelter Specialist as direct supervisor or the Emergency Response Manager for support in rapid program solving;
  • Provide inputs in the adjustment and review process of the constructions design, materials specifications, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), construction monitoring tools, etc.;
Participate in the construction programme planning, M&E and reporting activities.
  • Ensure regular monitoring of construction and quality control of the construction activities carried out by the contractors’ teams;
  • Provide daily/weekly reports on the construction progress and forecasts to the Shelter Specialist, as requested;
  • Feed into the preparation of weekly and monthly reports to the CO, donors, District, OPM and UNHCR.
Develop, maintain and strengthen relations with authorities and agencies working in the same settlement and/or technical area.
  • Attend field inter-agency coordination meetings, ensuring a clear communication about constructions available as well as challenges identified;
  • Liaise daily with OPM, District and Education, Health partners (UNHCR, MTI, WI) to ensure a smooth communication and planning for construction activities (Site identification, quality monitoring, site supervision during construction);
  • Ensure close and good relationships and coordination with relevant actors at field-level inter-agency and inter-sectoral levels.
Contribute to programme quality and development
  • Develop and improve the existing methodology for quality control of construction as needed;
  • Collaborate with CI Technical Advisors when visiting the project site(s) to continuously improve the quality of the intervention;
  • Ensure attention to PSHEA, gender and GBV is mainstreamed at all times in the construction sites and contractors including their staff are aware;
Others:  Perform any other program related duties as assigned by supervisor which will facilitate achievement of program deliverables.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold a Degree in Civil Engineering, or a closely related and relevant discipline, from a recognized University.
  • At least two years of humanitarian aid experience, preferably in emergency construction projects in refugee settlements;
  • Experience of construction management & site management; including design of structures and making BoQs
  • Ability to run construction trainings/demonstration sessions;
  • Familiarity with inter-sectoral coordination with humanitarian actors, local and national authorities;
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills;
  • Good advocacy and communication skills;
  • Possess analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Awareness of protection issues as applied to emergency settings, with special attention to the needs of women and children.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the organizational construction policies and guidelines are followed at all times during the construction of the houses.
  • Develop construction specification and management i.e. prepare Bills of Quantities/Materials for the selected house designs.
  • Ensure that concerns raised by contractors or beneficiaries are documented and shared by Construction Specialist and VGH Manager.
  • Ensure that all building materials used in the construction of OVC houses are of the quality as recommended by the Organization.
  • Frequent visits to the construction sites.
  • Collaborate with the District Local Government Technical officials, Town Council Officials e.g. District Engineers to ensure approval of new design & specifications
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Construction Supervisor job should preferably have qualifications including, but not limited to: University degree in any one of the following disciplines: Bachelor’s degree in Building and Civil Engineering or High Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least three years of experience in construction management work for a non-governmental organization or a reputable international organization.
  • Experience in supervising construction works and inventory management
  • Practical experience in working with community based structures
  • Experience in drawings, developing of BOQs and construction budgets
