Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must have a professional background in any of the following; nursing, primary healthcare, community health, clinical medicine, education, social work administration.
  • Minimum qualification will be a diploma or its equivalent
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience and current knowledge of HIV/AIDs intervention will be an added advantage.

2 Community Social Workers - Epicentre

About US:
In 1995, Epicentre created a permanent research centre in Uganda to support MSF projects in the region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to conduct clinical research following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements on critical public health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this objective, Epicentre collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). A full-time experienced research team is based at the Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre. The Mbarara research centre is located in Mbarara Municipality, 300 km South-West to Kampala.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Conduct communication activities following the study communication strategy
  • Inform target population about MSF, Epicentre and the activities they conduct; Acting as a representative of Epicentre in the community
  • Under the guide of the Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (questionnaires, interviews and observations to understand community beliefs and behaviors).
  • Report to the supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints.
  • Mobilize participants for enrollment and follow up visits


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma in Social Work, Social Communication teaching.
  • Previous experience in teaching, nursing or social work, community mobilization is preferred.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Runyankole languages.
  • Competencies: teamwork, flexibility, commitment and service.

Job Summary:  The JF Coalition Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination between the six Joining Forces coalition members. The Coalition Coordinator leads on and coordinates the design of campaign plans, activities, advocacy and resource mobilization under this coalition. S/he ensures effective coordination and communication with the global JF Secretariat and Project Manager. The Coalition Coordinator works closely with the Technical Experts of the JF members and reports periodically to the CD Steering Group.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the Save the Children JF Coalition Coordinator job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Rights, Governance, Social Science, Social Work and Social Administration, Arts, Education, Development studies, Law.
  • Post Graduate training in Project Management, Community Development or a Master's degree in any relevant field is an added advantage.

Education Programme Coordinator - Plan International

Job Summary:  The Education Programme Coordinator will provide technical, administrative and management support to the general Education and Early Childhood Development programs at national and project levels working in collaboration with the National Program Manager – Education. The Education Program Coordinator (EPC) will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of assigned programme/project(s), with a focus on Education and Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD). The EPC will support the delivery of Education & ECCD program/ project results in the context of time, budget, quality, scope, risk and in accordance with Plan International’s values and behaviours, including gender transformative outcomes and Safeguarding of Children and Young People.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide information to support the Resource Mobilization Unit and the National Programme Manager in developing proposals to facilitate the scale up of Education interventions
  • With the support of the Resource Mobilisation team and the National Programme Manager, ensure that all education projects comply to donor guidelines.
  • Provide monthly technical support and capacity building of Education project teams on financial management.
  • Support representation and visibility of Plan International’s Education and ECCD work in consultation with the National Programme Manager - Education, including support the NPM at other district and national level meetings as necessary.
  • Support the National Programme Manager in contributing to Plan International’s ECCD Global Network by sharing lessons from implementing the ECCD work in Uganda and ensure other global lessons are passed on to Uganda project teams
  • Work closely with Country Manager for Advocacy and National Programme Manager Education to ensure alignment with Plan International’s Advocacy strategy including engaging youth in advocacy.
  • Support the NPM – Education to provide technical backstopping to education and ECCD sponsorship projects
  • Collating the Quarterly Education thematic reporting including narrative and financial reports from all the project teams, case studies and newsletter articles with support of the National Programme Manager.
  • Support coordination of Education and ECCD project teams with the Human Resource and Operations, administration, procurement, logistics, and finance teams ensuring proper and timely Plan International Uganda accountability procedures.
  • Support education projects to conduct periodic review meetings and subsequent action plans and their follow up and implementation.
  • Support the NPM to ensure that gender transformative programming is embedded across all education projects. .
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Plan International Education Programme Coordinator job vacancy must hold an advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Education specifically Primary Education, or a Social Sciences field relevant to international development assistance.
  • At least five years of progressively professional work experience in design, implementation and evaluation of Education programmes. Experience working in international development organization an asset.
  • Conversant with government systems and structures especially Ministry of Education and Sports, district local governments, and other line ministries, institutions, departments, and implementing agencies. Should be familiar with MoES Planning and policy formulation, implementation, budgeting, accountability mechanisms, Monitoring and evaluation processes etc.
  • Excellent coordination and organization skills. Able to work in a matrix environment and keep track of multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in report writing, donor compliance and budget management.
  • Ability to Identify and synthesis best practices and lessons learned to promote knowledge management and sustainability.
  • Ability to work in hard to reach hard to stay areas and familiar with programming for vulnerable children especially young girls and boys.
  • Promotes high performance among project staff and provides vision and direction.
  • Establishes effective partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Ability to coach and mentor project staff.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with people from diverse cultures
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Word processing, Power point presentation, Excel spreadsheets, e-mail and web based research.
  • Experience of gender mainstreaming gender equality and inclusion in development programming
  • Experience working with Education or Child protection programmes in a humanitarian context.

Job Summary: The Early Childhood Development Assistant will be field based and conducts supervision of ECD caregivers and implementation of Early Childhood Development activities within the integrated child friendly spaces.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Technically build the capacity of ECD and CFS caregivers on the implementation of ECD using the ECD learning framework.
  • Regular updates and monitoring of the CFS/ECD to ensure technical support is given in regard to play equipment and materials as per the global minimum standards.
  • Motivate and ensure teamwork among ECD caregivers for a greater ministry impact, in the community.
  • Support community based child protection and ECD engagements with children and families.
  • Support caregivers in the implementation of key family care practices to improve the wellbeing of children and families.

  • Mobilize children and communities to implement a contextualized child friendly feedback mechanism.
  • Facilitate case management, and data collection in line with the required and approved standards at the integrated ECD centres.
  • Collect and compile statistical data and information regarding ECD children, caregivers, community members participating in project related activities
  • Ensure ECD implementation as per the minimum standards in education in emergencies
  • Facilitate the community to establish systems aimed at strengthening their capacity in responding to violence against children.
  • Support communities and ECD caregivers to identify children with disabilities and model families for project implementation.
  • Develop monthly, quarterly and annual project management reports and submit them to the Child protection Facilitator
  • Develop tools to manage data and information collection and analysis in establishing and maintaining a Monitoring and Evaluation adherences.
  • Document impact and success stories evidenced with quality pictures to share milestone with staff, partners and donors.
  • Represent the organization in settlement sector meetings and cluster coordination meetings giving updates and progress of implementation and establish strategic partnerships with other organizations.
  • Establish and liaise closely with other partners, agencies and local leaders regarding project activities to ensure a coordinated approach to project implementation, including participation in relevant workshops, meetings and keep the coordinator informed
  • Tasked with the preparation of payment, advance and purchase requests for appropriate project transactions in line with approved documents.
  • File all accountability and attendance lists in line with audit requirements


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
