Job Summary:  We are looking for a suitable candidate to take on the role of Strategic Communications Manager. This position will provide strategic guidance and technical oversight to PSI Uganda’s internal and external communication in line with global standards and PSI Uganda’s vision and mission by creating and delivering high quality, proactive communications that drive retention of internal and external stakeholders, client loyalty, new opportunities and the ability to influence regional and national health care priorities.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        Work alongside the Executive Team to develop an organisation communications strategy to guide organisation and project communications’ work.

·        Work with the PSI Global External Relations and Communications team, ensure alignment of PSI Uganda and PSI Global Communications strategies.

·        Serve as the contact point for PSI Uganda programming for external stakeholders and other PSI platforms.

·        Develop proactive, consistent channels of communication to reach internal and external stakeholder groups.

·        Work with different departments and projects to clarify communications expectations and establish key messages which differentiate PSI Uganda’s areas of expertise and health areas of focus.

·        Build a PSI Uganda Communications calendar to define timing for messaging throughout the year.

·        Supervise the Communications Coordinator and Graphics Designer to ensure quality and timely development of content calendars, branding and Behavior Change Communications materials.

·        Work with People and culture department to clarify expectations for communications with PSI-Uganda staff.

·        Work with technical team leads and all external-facing staff members to provide training in effective communication strategies.

·        Guide PSI Uganda’s presence at different international, national and donor events in line with strategic direction such as:

o   Oversee all PSIU external presentations and provide guidance on key messages and expected branding.

o   Offer technical guidance to PSIU events to ensure branding and media publicity including liaising with journalists and drafting press releases.

o   Provide technical oversight and approval for all content for the PSIU & ProFam newsletters, the annual report and all PSIU brand identity items.

·        Provide support in managing departmental budgets, awarded contracts and coordinating the production and/or implementation of behavior change communications including media buying and monitoring.

·        Provide support to the Executive Management Team in proposal writing and fundraising.

·        Coordination of all projects to ensure timely input into and production of quality donor reports.

·        Any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Country Representative.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The applicant must hold a BA/BS degree in Mass Communication, Marketing or any other related field.

·        Five years of communications management experience in general.

·        Excellent analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills

·        Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

·        High level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities

·        Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, external stakeholders and partners.

Job Summary:   The Partnerships Officer will mainly collect, analyse and report on information to develop new and existing government partnerships and maximise resources raised to support WFP programmes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        Implement the work plan for an assigned area to enable WFP to identify, develop and strengthen quality partnerships in support of WFP strategic objectives.
·        Proactively contribute to a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling and outreach activities, with the aim to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work;
·        Support partner visibility and ensure partner conditions are met.

Job Summary:  The Senior Technical Advisor, Social and Behavior Change Communication is responsible for 1) managing all phases of development and implementation of SBCC strategy and activities in the RHITES-EC project; 2) guiding SBCC team members in implementation, as well identifying technical assistance and training needs to support team members; 3) strengthening URC’s SBCC capabilities through program development efforts and contributions to successful integrated implementation; 4) staying informed of and applying evidenced-based SBCC innovations and best practices to the USAID RHITES-EC project ; and 5) defining and supporting USAID RHITES-EC knowledge management activities in the areas of SBCC and integrated health services.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        Provide strategic level guidance and technical support to SBCC team in the USAID RHITES-EC project

·        In coordination with other components’ teams and technical advisors, guide the process of developing and deploying communication and SBCC interventions and measuring/ monitoring the results, including communication and behavioral outcomes

·        Promote and support the development of quality job aids and other materials to support technical implementation.

·        Participate in communities of practice on technical areas, SBCC, and related subjects

·        Experience in leading strategic planning for and providing technical support to programs that integrate health/nutrition and BCC programs and health promotion and health education.

·        Experience in communication and behavioral based measurement and evaluation (M&E).

·        Experience with qualitative research methods used in pretesting of concepts, materials and interventions.

·        Superior ability to apply research to program design and improvement.

·        State of the art knowledge of SBCC theories, approaches, and interventions.

·        Demonstrated ability to develop creative programs, networks, linkages with clients and collaborating organizations.

·        Exceptional writing skills (to include report, and technical writing experience) in addition to strong editing and organizational skills.

The project involves 3 major components: monitoring compliance by the Attorney General with the orders of a 2019 Supreme Court public interest litigation (PIL) case that challenged the Attorney General’s non-compliance with the orders of the same court made in Presidential Election Petition No.1 of 2016 and awareness creation about the PIL case; a comprehensive study of the electoral reforms proposed by the Supreme Court in the (above) 2016 Presidential Election Petition; and a critical review of the 2016 parliamentary election judgements to ascertain their consistency and legal basis with a view of improving future adjudication of electoral disputes.


Job Summary:  The Communication/IT Volunteer will maintain and update the organization/project communication strategy and supplementary work plan in consultation with management and project staff.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The Communication/IT volunteer shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

·        Maintain and update the organization/project communication strategy and supplementary work plan in consultation with management and project staff.

·        Update contact list (data base) of  journalists  and  media  houses operating in the print, broadcast and electronic sector in Uganda;

·        Maintain   prompt   and   precise   information   dissemination   to   key stakeholders including the media (external communications).

·        Under the guidance of the Programmes Director, develop, and oversee the distribution of  media  materials  in  various suitable  formats  such as Press  releases,  feature  stories, blog features etc.).

·        Improve and manage the various media handles of KcK including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and the website.

·        Support the project team in the communication and IT related aspects of the programme implementation and development as requested.

·        Actively assist in the setup and participate in project events (meetings/workshops/trainings) and publicize them.

·        Ensure transparency, ethical conduct and efficiency in communication.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The applicant must hold a University Degree in Mass Communications/Information technology and public relations related studies.

·        Any post graduate qualification in the same shall be an added advantage;

·        At least one year of work experience in project/organizational communications/IT and public relations;

·        Computer literacy skills

·        High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.,), excellent web navigation skills and management of organizational social media accounts.

·        Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite software package (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) is an added advantage.

·        High professional and personal integrity;

·        Excellent interpersonal skills;

·        Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team;

·        Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability in a diversity characterized working environment;
