The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Uganda's apex body for the private sector is collaborating with the MasterCard Foundation (MCF) to co-implement Young Africa Works in Uganda - Enhancing Lead Firm Structure for Youth Employment Program. The Intervention's ultimate goal is to create dignified and fulfilling work for young women and men and contribute to the effort to lifting Ugandans out of poverty. The intervention focuses on creating, maintaining and sustaining growth in job markets through strengthening the capacity of actors to efficiently produce and sell their goods and services in expanded markets, developing new diversified financing mechanisms as well as growing the capacity of business leaders and their support service providers to manage and expand their enterprises. This transformative intervention will also transition Micro Enterprises to Small Enterprises.

Job Summary:     The Investment Specialist/Trade and Allied Services Sector will head the division within the Project Management Unit responsible for promoting the development and operation of the Lead Firm Structure in the Trade and allied Services sector. The IS/Trade will provide required technical expertise to support, coordinate and implement activities relating to the development and operations of the LFS in the Trade and Allied Services sector. He/she will be an integral member of the project management team. The IS/Trade will report to and be guided and supported by the Project Director.

Demonstrated experience in BDS facilitation to beneficiaries is an added advantage.
·        A good understanding of private sector development issues and appreciation of the role the private sector can play in economic development;
·        Demonstrated written, analytical, presentation, reporting and computing skills and familiarity with modern communication systems (internet, worldwide web, email etc.);

Job Summary: The Financial Accountant will be responsible for processing financial transactions plus reconciling accounts ledgers in line with the Finance Procedures Manual.
Facilitating data driven decision making

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Ensure all transactions are accurately captured in JDE.
·        Timely processing and payment of transactions.
·        Monitor, reconcile and report any discrepancies on the general ledger accounts.
·        Reconcile and generate listings tying to the general ledger for all accounts.
·        Perform daily, month-end and year-end close processes.
·        Prepare end of period adjustments.
·        Understanding all financial and accounting regulations; keeping up to date with changes and ensuring adherence.
·        Analyze business operation costs, revenues, and trends to develop projections for future revenue and expenses and make recommendations for improvements.
·        Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization.
·        Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.
·        Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard reports and tools.
·        Monitoring of account ledger entries to ensure they affect correct Budget lines.
·        Perform bank agency roles.
·        Responds to financial inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders. Be a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters.
·        Supporting the Finance Manager with projects and tasks when required.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·        The applicant for the NSSF Financial Accountant job should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business courses like BCOM, BBA, BSTAT etc.
·        A professional finance qualification e.g. ACCA, CPA.

2 Project Coordinator Job Placements - Uganda Society for Disabled Children (USDC)

USDC’s main aim is to help children with disabilities and their families to access resources and opportunities to enable them achieve their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.

Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for overall delivery of the grant including all project activities, deliverables and ensuring timely delivery and coordination of all project work streams concurrently. As the projects work across three districts in northern Uganda, each district has District Project Leads and School Liaison Officers. As the Project Coordinator, you will maintain ultimate responsibility for the project and work closely with the district project teams to line manage and provide effective support and training to them to ensure quality delivery of the project and effective networking across project stakeholders on a daily basis. Alongside the support of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer, Partnership and Advocacy Officers, you will oversee all the partnership and MEL associated with the project and ensure effective delivery of advocacy activities with government bodies, universities, schools, communities and other stakeholders at both district and national level. Crucial to ensuring good financial management of the project, you will oversee all project finances, including managing budgets and funds, monitoring spend at each of the three district offices, accurately forecasting project spends, and the submission of timely and accurate financial requests and reports to USDC Headquarters.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Social Sciences, Development Studies or Business Administration and related fields. Added advantage: post graduate qualifications.
·        At least two years of Project Management Experience working on projects funded by large institutional donors (such as DFID, UN, EU etc.) Ssuccessful management of entire project lifecycle.
·        Experience of line managing personnel teams
·        Significant and proven experience of working in an NGO; experience of using participatory approaches for project planning, delivery and organisational development of partner organisations.
·        Experience of coordinating projects over large or hard to reach geographical areas.
·        Experience of working in partnership with other individuals or organisations to deliver projects, ideally remotely or internationally.
·        A strong understanding of donor compliance principles and expectations, Knowledge of key programme areas including education, health, child participation, livelihoods, child safeguarding and community engagement.
·        Knowledge and understanding of the regional and cultural context of rural regions in Uganda – preferably in relation to disability and local language.
·        Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting disabled children and young people in Uganda
·        Excellent Monitoring and Evaluation skills and an understanding of the importance of incorporating the lessons learned into the project framework.
·        Experience of successfully reporting against big institutional donor logical frameworks or similar reporting formats.
·        Experience of data collection and the differing tools and methodologies available, particularly for the collection of qualitative and quantitative data.
·        Excellent Financial Management skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
·        Proven experience of maintaining a close overview of funds received/ disbursed, expenditure status, forecasting and reporting.
·        Proven track record of addressing issues of under/ overspends and alerting management of any cash-flow challenges.
·        Demonstrated ability to foster genuine and collaborative partnerships to deliver activities and promote effective capacity building.
·        IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and competency in using Excel to manage financial tracking and reporting.
·        Experience of developing systems, procedures and tools for programme design, delivery and grant management.
