Airport Services Manager Job Opportunity - Emirates Group

Job Summary:  The Airport Services Manager will mainly manage and ensure a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely airport operation so that Emirates’ image, reputation and customer service levels are maintained and enhanced to the highest standards.  Ensure that appropriate action is taken for providing prompt service to Emirates customers to maintain, and where required, to restore the goodwill and confidence of customers facing various adverse situations (flight disruptions, denied boarding, etc). Ensure that Service Level Agreements, OTPs and EKAS KPIS are achieved in line with the company standards.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        Implement and periodically review strategy to ensure that EK airport staff fulfils all procedures, standards and instructions as laid down by Airport Services Procedures.

·        Achieve the Ground Handling performance targets set by Airport Services such as flight punctuality, check-in standards and baggage delivery times, so that EK remains competitive.  This will be achieved through regular liaison with the management of Handling Agents and other service suppliers in order to identify problem areas and find solutions to them.

·        Ensure that adequate measures are implemented and maintained in order to protect the safety and security of the whole operation including aircraft, passengers, cargo, baggage and all staff.  Monitor all aspects of the operation in order to achieve and maintain acceptable customer service standards.

·        Lead, guide and develop staff in order to ensure the maintenance of a disciplined, motivated work force, and adherence to customer service and other operation standards.

·        Perform all administrative duties in an accurate and timely manner, e.g. Monthly Reports, Performance Appraisals, Baggage Claim settlements, invoice verification, general correspondence, and complaint investigation and highlight areas of potential problems, reoccurring discrepancies, service failures and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

·        Prepare and constantly review local procedures or Diversion/Delay Handling/Disruptions and Emergency Procedures for the reference of both EK staff and those of the Handling Agent.

·        Check on an ongoing basis the competency of both EK and Handling Agent staff in all areas, particularly Load Control where licence’s are required.

·        Represent EK at appropriate official forums, i.e. AOC meetings, AOC sub-committees, and Working Group meetings, and liaise with government organizations, i.e. Customs, Immigration, DETR (Department of Economic Transport Review).

·        Develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal/external departments, Airport authorities, GHAs and other service providers and exercise personal influence to achieve the required end results for Emirates.

·        Accountable for annual budgeting of revenue, expenses and capital expenditure. Within these parameters, provide a cost efficient service that best represents value for money.  Create dynamic measurement and reporting systems, for purposes of providing periodic reports on the operations.  Review overall performance of all areas in terms of costs, revenue, productivity, quality, safety and security.  Regularly analyze results with a view to pro-actively attend to emerging issues.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The ideal candidate for the Emirates Group Airport Services Manager job opportunity should be educated up to degree level or equivalent.

·        Qualified to an advanced level in Passenger Services, Ground Operations, Baggage Claims, Reservations & Ticketing, and Weight and Balance.

·        At least eight years’ experience in Airport Passenger handling/Operations, of which minimum of five years should be at a managerial level.

·        Should be conversant with Flight Planning and the pertinent aspects of Meteorology.

·        Must be able to operate and/or be familiar with various computerised systems, e.g. for Reservations, Baggage Tracing, and various software packages used by the Company such as Word, Excel, etc.

·        Must be able to work under pressure in an environment which requires a very high degree of initiative.

·        Must be fluent in both Spanish and English.

 

Other Information

·        The job holder is responsible for adhering to the relevant health and safety requirements and safe working practices applicable to their employment.

·        The jobholder is a senior member of the (Country) management team, and as such, must be flexible in respect of his/her work, timings (24hour call-out responsibility) and functions.  The jobholder must be prepared to work long and extended hours where necessary in times of disruption.  Administratively the jobholder reports to Country Manager and functionally to Airport Services Department in Head Office.

The Department of Operational Support was established to provide operational advisory services to client entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices away from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Within delegated authority, the Air Operations Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

·        Monitors that air operations are conducted in compliance with Air Tasking Orders (ATOs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), UN directives, Department of Operational Support (DOS) Aviation Manual, UN Aviation Standards for Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Air Transport Operations. (UN AVSTADS), UN Aviation Safety Manual, ICAO standards and recommended practices and the host country's Aeronautical Information Publications (AlPs).

·        Reviews and approves Air Mission Requests and ensures that the most suitable air asset(s) is/are assigned to a task to achieve the maximum safety, cost efficiency and effectiveness in the mission support.

·        Consolidates and reviews all operational and logistical mission flight requests.

·        Coordinates plans and verities the daily projected Air Tasking Orders (ATOs) for conformance and compliance with the requested tasks resolves conflicting priorities and ensures that ATOs are published and communicated to all relevant elements in accordance with the established procedures and deadlines.

·        Prepares and publishes mission materials, flight schedules and air task orders and issues them to Flight crews.

·        Participates in the development of aviation standard operating procedures (SOPs) in compliance with the DOS Aviation Manual, TCAO, TA and the host country's AlPs.

·        Ensures that flight crews are briefed and conversant with UN policies, flight safety procedures and latest applicable aviation standard requirements. Confirms that appropriate reference documents are readily available and accessible to all Hight crew members and aviation personnel.

·        Manages routine (regular passenger/cargo, logistics resupply) flights, special (casualty and medical evacuation, VIP) flights and military operational flights.

·        Coordinates the integrated search and rescue operations for UN air assets and other aircraft upon request.

·        Supervises timely coordination of diplomatic over flight/landing clearances, ground handling support and hotel accommodation/meals, transportation arrangements for aircrews.

·        Coordinates weather observation, forecasting and dissemination of weather information.

·        Liaises closely with other Sections/Missions, international organizations/agencies concerning aviation movement matters.

·        Liaises with other UN units/sections, non-government and government organizations and intergovernmental agencies on aviation matters.

·        Verifies and analyses the detailed TM1CC Statement of Requirements to UNHQ for aircraft acquisition.

·        Coordinates the responses to UNHQ aircraft technical evaluations to ensure that vendor's proposals meet technical requirements under the service delivery model.

·        Prepares operational plans, performance reports, and responses to internal and external audit observations.

·        Prepares inputs, data and estimates for budget reporting and planning purposes.

·        Acts for the Chief Air Mode Unit in his/her absence.

·        Performs other related duties as required.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The applicant for the United Nations Department of Operational Support Air Operations Officer job opportunity must hold a High School diploma or equivalent. Required.

·        Training and certification as a Commercial Pilot or a Flight Operations Officer/Flight Dispatcher, or an equivalent military qualification is required.

·        Air Transportation/Aviation Management, Aviation Safety Management, Aerospace/ Aeronautical Engineering, or graduation from an equivalent military educational establishment is desirable.

·        A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in air transport operations or aviation safety with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience in a position directly related to the coordination of complex air transport operations in the international environment is required. The minimum years of relevant experience are reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first level university degree.

·        Experience in the development and implementation of the safety and quality management systems is desirable.

·        Experience in the use of ICAO standards and recommended practices is desirable.

·        Experience in international operations in a post conflict environment is desirable.

·        Languages: fluency in English language is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        Knowledge in methods, materials, equipment and tools used in vehicles, equipment maintenance and repair.

·        A minimum of two years’ experience in plant maintenance at a busy workshop.

·        Previous work experience with a GHA is an added advantage.

·        General knowledge in Airside Safety, Airside Driving and DGR.

·        Training on modern petrol and diesel engines.

Job Summary:  The Aircraft maintenance Engineer is responsible for daily work on the aircraft and to ensure that the aircraft is available and departs on time, all defects are rectified and troubleshooting is done on time. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring that all scheduled checks are completed on time

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        The line maintenance engineer will be involved in the day to day work on the aircraft. He shall be the initial point of contact whenever maintenance is to be done. The line maintenance engineer shall report to the maintenance manager and shall work hand in hand with the approved maintenance organization.

·        Carry out maintenance tasks (scheduled and unscheduled) in the hangar and on line as per approved maintenance program (i.e. inspections, repairs, defect rectifications, alterations and modifications, replacements, functional tests) to assure continued airworthiness, mechanical and structural integrity of aircraft, engines, components, equipment and systems.

·        Strict compliance to airworthiness regulations and applicable approved data/instructions for maintenance tasks carried out.

·        Ensuring that all defects are rectified and aircraft/aircraft component certified on time prior to release to service.

·        Ensuring that safety standards are adhered to before attempting any maintenance tasks to avoid injury of personnel and/or equipment damage.

·        Review of cabin defects and rectifying them before releasing an aircraft for flight.

·        Ensuring that all aircraft certificates/licenses and manuals are up-to-date and amended before use.

·        Meeting and debriefing the pilots on every aircraft arrival and carrying out appropriate tasks as outlined in the Approved Maintenance Program (prefight, transit, weekly, daily, etc) and performing all other duties that he/she may be assigned.

·        Reporting and recording any abnormal conditions of wear, damage etc. on aircraft, part or component when identified.

·        Ensuring that all defective components/ parts removed from the aircraft have appropriately filled and signed documentation before handing them over to the stores.

·        Performing Pre-flight Inspections and aircraft technical dispatch services

·        Supervising all tasks assigned to and carried out by aircraft technicians including but not limited to aircraft fueling/defueling, aircraft external cleaning, tool and equipment handling, etc

·        Responsible for toolbox and tools management and control during and after maintenance

·        Accomplishment of any work assigned to him by his/her superior

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        The applicant for the Uganda Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Engineer job must hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License Airframes, Engines (Gas turbine engines) or Avionics (Electrical, Instruments, Autopilots, Radios). Or Hold a full EASA B1 or B2 license.

·        At least two years in the capacity of returning aircraft to service; and Possess active approval or recent experience in an approved maintenance organisation.

·        Equivalent experience of 5 years in an aviation line maintenance setting.

·        A type rating on Uganda Airlines Fleet (A330ceo/A330neo or CRJ 900 aircraft) will be an added advantage.

·        Experience in line & base maintenance and AOG management

·        Be able to work autonomously and under pressure

·        Technical experience, with broad knowledge of airline operational constraints and maintenance/engineering experience.

·        Have experience working in outstations

·        Team/shift leader with production control skills.
