Job Summary:  The Planning Officer will be mainly responsible for data gathering and conducting intermediate-level analysis to provide recommendations/solutions related to NAS (National Aviation Services) Operations staffing levels for EBB station and functions for future flight schedules.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Creates and analyzes manpower, headcount projections, variance reports, labor productivity, operational performance metrics and other management reports
  • Perform routine reporting such as department statistical reporting on operations, agent performance, monthly headcount productivity reporting and related variance
  • Monthly trends station performance in relation to clients’ Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • To constantly monitor and propose effective shift patterns to match business requirements, optimizing performance of all teams and maximizing agent satisfaction
  • To identify and pro-actively manage changes to the shift patterns to deliver improved customer service, working as team with Operations, facilitate smooth communication and transition, maintaining and communicating a formal historic record of the changes and their impact
  • To deliver effective & accurate reports detailing key performance indicators and commentary relating to workforce and shift performance, identifying the proposed and actual shift efficiency factors and clearly stating all assumptions applied
  • Utilizes resource planning tool, staffing standards, volume forecast and labor constraints to develop optimal staffing recommendations for future flight schedules for assigned stations
  • Reviews recommendations with departments and works with Station Manager to finalize manpower authorization levels for each month
  • May also gather best practice data and may make program/process recommendations to support corporate/division programs and policy updates
  • Proactively seeks out opportunities on process improvement for operational departments
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to reduce service defects and to save costs
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a Quantitative or Operations related field (ex: Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Operations Management, engineering, math, business statistics etc)
  • One to two years of experience in resource planning working in operations department
  • Skills: Analytical Skills, Interpersonal, Communication Organizational Skills, Supervisory skills, aptitude in measurement, assessment and evaluation, Capacity/ staffing modelling experience, planning and execution, ability to work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines and proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office

Job Summary:    The Development Engineer will ensure that the daily performance of the engines is monitored and advice is given to his line manager and the maintenance teams on any troubleshooting covering the power plant and related systems. In addition, they shall be the primary source of all reliability programme management issues related to the whole fleet.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Keenly monitor alert levels and ensuring early identification and prevention of systems and components malfunctions;
  • Monitor actions and follow-ups for systems/power plants/PIREPS to ensure scheduled Aircraft operations are not prejudiced
  • Monitor maintenance reliability of aircraft and components, compiling reliability data as required;
  • Distributing reliability reports to assist in internal organization and decision-making processes in relation to troubleshooting and calculation of inventory control economic order quantities;
  • Recommend time adjustment intervals for scheduled engine maintenance requirements. Recommend and coordinate immediate corrective actions on critical failures in which loss of functions could affect the airworthiness of the aircraft;
  • Recommend and coordinate appropriate corrective action to restore performance to an acceptable level in cases where a deviation from the performance standard is indicated.
  • Ensure that updated and approved documentation is used in the maintenance works performed on the Engines and APU
  • To propose modifications that would improve the overall reliability and safety of the aircraft.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Airlines Development Engineer job placement must hold a Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized university majoring in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering (Aeronautics).
  • An equivalent qualification from a recognized aviation maintenance training school
  • Equivalent working experience of at least one year in Aircraft engineering and maintenance organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensuring Ugandan Airline’s technical department records and documents are kept current.
  • Control and Administration of Aircraft Technical Records and library
  • Systematic filing of the aircraft technical log sheets and worksheets; and proper arrangement of aircraft documents to make location of documents easy.
  • Processing of the information contained in the aircraft technical log sheets and completed worksheets into the aircraft, engines and propellers logbooks as appropriate
  • Monitor and update work orders and flight logs in tracking system
  • Keeping and updating of the aircraft, engines and propellers logbooks
  • Maintaining a record of compliance for all accomplished Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins and other airworthiness information publications
  • Maintaining other relevant aircraft records and ensuring that they are retained for the required periods
