Job Title: Statistician (No Experience Jobs)

About Organisation:

The Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA), is a government agency established by the Parliament of Uganda to monitor, investigate, and prevent money laundering in the country. It is also responsible for the enforcement of Uganda’s anti-money laundering laws and the monitoring of all financial transactions inside the country’s borders.

 

Job Summary: To collect, analyze, and interpret data to support statistical reporting and evidence-based decision-making within the Authority.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and compile data from various sources for statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Apply statistical methods to analyse data and identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Maintain and update statistical databases and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Generate statistical reports and dashboards to support planning and decision-making.
  • Develop data collection instruments, including surveys and questionnaires, in line with the Authority’s needs
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on data collection and analysis processes.
  • Support departments in the use of statistical tools and techniques for project evaluation and reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of periodic performance and compliance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with statistical standards and best practices.
  • Provide technical support in data visualization and presentation for stakeholders.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Experience

  • No Experience required

Competencies 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Authority’s vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and tools (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, Python, or Excel).
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyse complex datasets accurately.
  • Knowledge of data management and quality assurance practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality.
