About Organisation:
Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently implementing a project “Strengthening District Health Systems for Improved Access to and Utilization of Quality integrated RMNCAH Services in Karamoja”. The Funding for this Project is from the Embassy of Ireland in Uganda. The Actions are spearheaded by CUAMM in Partnership with the Ministry of health (MOH), Uganda Blood transfusion services (UBTS), Mbarara University Center for Simulation, Health professional associations, Moroto Regional referral hospital and the 9 District Local government in Karamoja.
Job Summary: The Project Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the implementation of RMNCAH and HIV interventions across nine districts in Karamoja. The role involves close collaboration with Distnd Health Teams (DHTs), community structures, and health facilities to drive improvements in quality of care, service delivery, and data-driven planning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Implementation and Coordination: Lead and coordinate all project activities in line with project documents and donor agreements, provide technical support to DHTs in planning, supervision, and monitoring of RMNCAH services, oversee community health initiatives, bi-directional facility linkages, and adolescent health interventions, ensure high-quality documentation, including reports, human interest stones, and success stories.
- Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement: Supervise and mentor RMNCAH project staff including M&E Officers, Finance/Admin staff, and volunteers, Build and maintain collaborative relationships with district, diocesan, and regional stakeholders, participate in national technical wooing groups and regional review meetings. Maintain regular communication with the Embassy of Ireland’s Karamoja coordination office.
- Financial and Asset Accountability: Plan and manage budgets in alignment with project workplans. Oversee requisitions, spending, and timely submission of financial accountabilities. Ensure responsible use and maintenance of CUAMM assets (vehicles, computers, etc.).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Medical/Health-related degree with additional postgraduate qualification: MPH, MMed (OBGYN), International Health, or Health Services Management
- At least 5 years’ experience managing large, donor-funded public health programs.
- Proven experience in RMNCAH programming, and district health systems in Uganda.
- Strong communication, reporting, and staff mentoring skills.
- Deep understanding of Uganda’s HMIS systems and health policy frameworks
- Willingness to live and work in remote/hard-to-reach areas of Karamoja.
