We are currently expanding our team and seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Accountant to lead our Tax Department.
Job Summary: We are hiring a dynamic and experienced Tax Accountant to oversee and lead our Tax Department. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advising clients on tax matters, managing tax compliance processes, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). This is an experiential hire for someone who is passionate about tax strategy, advisory, and compliance management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the firm’s tax compliance engagements across all client categories.
- Prepare and review corporate, individual, PAYE, VAT, rental income, and withholding tax returns.
- Advise clients on tax planning, strategy, and compliance issues in line with the Ugandan tax laws.
- Prepare financial statements specifically for tax reporting and compliance purposes.
- Represent clients during URA audits and respond to tax queries.
- Stay up-to-date with tax law changes and their impact on clients.
- Supervise junior tax staff and support team development.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field.
- Full or part professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CTA) is an added advantage.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in tax accounting and tax advisory.
- Deep understanding of Uganda’s Income Tax, VAT, and other tax laws.
- Proven experience in preparing financial statements for tax reporting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client assignments under minimal supervision.
